So much depth to the characters, and a great fantasy world
A classic pseudo-medieval fantasy world, but written with an incredible depth to the characters. The characters run the full gamut of human emotions, and the storyline strings elements together beautifully.

A discovery!
What a wonderful series. Robin Hobb is our find of 2022. This series is so good! She writes so well, and we are impressed with her imagination, that creates whole realistic worlds, that blend into each other. Her next trilogy was the magic ships/traders series, different but set in the same world, and cross links are further developed in the third trilogy, which returns to the Farseer characters. I can’t recommend these books too much! They really are wonderful… and our friends are reading them now.

Couldn't put it down!
I spent the whole of Sunday reading this book.Fitz is handed over to the care of soldiers in a nearby fortress when he is just 6 years old by his maternal grandfather. The Royal family accept that he has been fathered by the King-in-waiting because he looks so much like Prince Chivalry.A bastard child is cause for great shame and the prince abdicates his succession to the throne and leaves with his baron wife to live in the country. Fitz never sets eyes on is father and is left in the care of the ex-princes "man" and stable master, Burrich.Fitz does not realise that a skill he has been blessed with since birth is considered a unacceptable to many. His place in the castle is difficult. Low born but half Royal blood , he is potentially a catalyst for jealousy, political jostling and many dangerous events. While still working as a stable boy he starts training with the King's assassin. Only the king and his father's brother know. until the secret is leaked and Fitz must try to survive an attempt (or 3) on his life. It becomes clear that the lives of those around him, including members of the royal family, are also in danger. Some descendants of the Royal line also have another skill and, much to the disgust of his enemies, the king decides that Fitz should be tested and trained to see if he can communicate with others via intuitive telepathy. The character development in the first book is brilliantly done. The story is well paced and draws the reader in without being none stop. There is time to breath and appreciate the developing relationships.I found the beginning of book 2, which summarizes book 1, a bit pointless, but once in to the new story and characters I was hooked once more.A must read for all lovers of Trudi Canavan, Raymond Feist and good fantasy.
