Beautiful dragonfly reference
Beautiful dragonfly reference material. Excellent pictures, with actual colors & images of each species shown. Bought for a friend who loved dragonflies, but it would be a handy reference for anyone doing fieldwork or for folks just enjoying what lives in or visits their own backyard.

Handy little guide!
I've found this guide to be an excellent way to identify the dragonflies I find, both for use while in the field, but even more so for those I photograph. The scans they use are crystal clear and they've made them as large as possible by only showing the inner half of one set of wings....since their wings on each side are mirror image of the other, this works well and was a clever idea. The information about each species is succinct. Be aware that the authors have used the English word "Dragonflies" to mean "Anisoptera" and there are no damselflies in this guide. I hope they make one for the damsels next!!

dragonfly ID card
Quick Reference Publishing has produced a high quality waterproof folding card depicting 40 species of common dragonflies in Texas. Texas hosts approximately 160 total species of dragonflies and nearly half of the 327 species known in the U.S. A good dragonfly book of the Eastern U.S, (east of the Rockies) will be a good backup for the card. The card displays good, sharp images of males and females of each of the 40 species. Status, time of year, size, location, and habitats are included for all species.A good light field card that will fit on a side pack or back pocket.

more informative nature hikes
A great guide to learning about dragonflies and identifying the wide variety that are seen! Easily portable, too. The kids especially love the color and information in these nature guides.
