Somatic exercises work with your nervous system!!
I love that the exercises work with body and mind. The author explains everything so that it is easily understood. It is great that I don’t have to go to a gym for these exercises.

Somatic Healing
I just got this book and it looks very readable, easy to use and helpful. I have done this work and have given people the idea that this works, and this is a good road map. I haven't done enough with it yet to give a full review, but they asked, so here it is.

Excellent guide for beginners
This is a really well written guide for beginners in somatic exercises. It’s not only breathing and physical but also writing exercises. I like the drawings and varied avenues to find the stress relief.

Great guide
I am a teacher of yoga, and I bought this book to help me recover from foot surgery in December. Because I couldn't do my regular practice for a couple of months, these exercises gave me emotional peace, presence and kept me in some mode of yoga. I plan to incorporate these somatic concepts into my teaching style in the future.

Good Text, Issues with Illustrations
The text is helpful and accurate in emphasizing that healing is a slow, slow process, though it doesn't address the fact that most people healing from emotional trauma are not able to be consistent, even for 10 minutes a day. But the illustrations seem thrown in--the illustration for the exercise called pelvic tilts actually shows a bridge pose which is quite different from pelvic tilits; the illustrations for the Sun Salutation are missing the 2 most complex poses--downward/upward dog. The book does have a pretty even mix of males and females in the illustrations, but everyone looks quite white.

Practical, do almost anywhere, stress relieving techniques and exercises
I’m impressed with this book about Somatic exercises that will help me regulate my nervous system. It’s one thing to go to physical therapy and learn some of the same exercises found in this book to strengthen muscles. Still, it’s another, entirely different spin when you use those same exercises to release stress and strengthen emotional resilience. The information that makes up the bulk of the book educated me in understanding why and how my body holds onto emotion and stress, and also how to identify if I’m still holding onto heavy weights from the past. I’ve already used a couple of techniques and exercises to improve the way I deal with stress at work. I’m excited to let go of so much more to gain myself again. You’ll love this book if you’re looking for detailed, guided, illustrations, and pictures of how to perform different exercises, but especially the information about what you do with your mind while performing these techniques. That’s the important part. I’ve been doing many of these exercises for years yet haven’t gotten the results that I’ve noticed since reading this book and following the advice. This book is effective as an ebook, but the paperback would be the better purchase so you can view the images easier.
