Excellent modern design. (Best for a naturally narrow posture)
Exactly what I was looking for. This is the ideal no-nonsense, no-bulk, simplified controller that is pleasant to look at. The texture is matte and smooth with a slightly rougher touch under the fingers for better grip. The buttons are smooth, accurate and responsive. Controller easily and smoothly drops into place on the docking station. I love that there is a small linear light under the dock that turns off on its own when left alone for a while - no annoying lights left on.**If you have a naturally wide elbow posture, this controller might hurt your wrists!** It's true that the grips of this controller pull your elbows and wrists inwards. I'm a size XS female so my elbows naturally fall at a narrower posture. I found this controller to be comfortable.

A Fantastic Controller with Just a Few Hiccups for iPad Users
Overall, this controller has been great. First off, the design is fantastic—it feels solid and comfortable to hold, and it has that wonderful retro aesthetic while still feeling modern. The buttons are responsive, the thumbsticks are smooth, and the D-pad is top-notch, which is perfect for anyone who enjoys precise control, whether for gaming or navigating accessibility features. As an iPad user, I was hopeful this controller would be the perfect companion for enhancing accessibility. Pairing it via Bluetooth was a breeze, and it’s been reliable for use with Apple’s AssistiveTouch and other accessibility options. The customization options with 8Bitdo’s software were also a nice touch, allowing me to fine-tune the controller to better fit my needs. However, there are some small limitations. While the controller works well with most iPad features, it doesn’t always integrate seamlessly with every app, especially those that don’t have native controller support. I also noticed that certain button mappings weren’t quite as smooth for some accessibility tools, which required a bit of adjusting. It would be great to see more refined iPad-specific support in future updates! That said, the overall experience has been incredibly positive, and I love how this controller has made my iPad more versatile. If you’re an iPad user like me, looking to enhance accessibility or just have a great controller for gaming, the 8Bitdo Ultimate 2.4G is definitely worth it—just be ready to tinker a bit with the settings to get everything running smoothly.

Deceptive Advertising --- NOT for MAC gaming
Despite their claims, the 8BitDo Ultimate 2.4G controller is not a good choice for Apple gaming. It does not support 2.4G wireless connection on Apple equipment. 8BitDo also offers no software to program its controller or map its switches on Apple equipment. And worse, since 8bitDo isn't recognized by any titles it only functions as a generic X-box controller on most hardware. So why pay more for a "feature controller" when none of its features work on Apple? Because, 8BitDo is aware of the deception and feel they can get away with it.Here's the bottom line. For what you pay for this 8BitDo controller, you can purchase a real Xbox or Playstation controller. Better yet, you can buy a generic controller for half the price with the same functionality.I subsequently contacted 8bitdo regarding these issues, and here is their response:"1. This controller model is only supported by "Ultimate Software for Windows", it is not supported by "Ultimate Software for mac", "Ultimate Software for iOS/Android".2. When the controller is paired and connected with your mac/iPad, you can only remap the buttons through the Game Controller Settings in the system, you can watch the demo video we attached in this email for more information and details. -- ["Demo video" was in Chinese.]3. Or, you can use the "Ultimate Software for Windows" on a Windows computer, connect the controller over a wired connection, turn the mode switch at the back of the controller to D position, complete the configuration and sync to the controller, then go back to your mac/iPad and use the controller. Don't forget to press the profile button on the controller to activate the profile."Really? ...Why didn't you state up up front in your Amazon posting, or your web site?!

Ergonomics Require Adjustment Period
This controller is clearly a premium controller, and for the price point it can't be beat. That said, the ergonomics and size are definitely a sticking point.I'm a bigger guy, and this is a smaller controller with the handles being pretty much straight up and down instead of at an angle that keeps the wrists neutral like the Xbox core controller does and the PS DualSense controller does. Initially, there was a bit of pain and discomfort, but after playing for an hour or so, I seem t have gotten used to it. If that changes, I will update this review. The other key thing to note is that because it is a smaller controller, the buttons are smaller. This also has taken some getting used to. However, what I appreciate about the controller as a whole is that it seems to blend the best parts of both the DualSense and the Xbox core controller. It has the triggers and bumpers from the DualSense, obviously without the adaptiveness, as well as the joysticks. The buttons are from the Xbox core controller as is the D-pad. Everything is super responsive, and it paired up immediately with my computer.Another thing worth noting is that while there is a 2.4GHz dongle, it is seated in the charging base and if you leave it in there and instead plug the base into your computer with the included cord, the computer will recognize it and the controller will turn on when you pick it up off the charger and turn off when you put it back down. Small thing but definitely a quality of life feature.Time will tell on whether I end up sticking with this or not. I will provide an update if I end up returning it or not using it anymore.
