Various opinions on the supplied battery
I assume if you are reading this review in the UK you are debating whether to shell out a pretty tidy sum for this torch and is it worth it. I got my IF30 from Amazon with a 30% discount so paid £83. Outdoor 77 was the supplier and they have been very reliable so far when I buy Sofirn products. The IF30 has a nice feel in the hand and is comparably light weight for the large power out put. I love the ability to have both spot and flood on together. To me Sofirn lights are good value and quality products for the price and get close to the quality and abilities of lights sometimes twice the price. A number of expert torch reviewers on line have provided some interesting data and opinions on the IF30 and are worth looking up before making a decision to buy. “Smothered Chrome”, Flashlight Enthusiast”, "Piercing the darkness" and “Tim McMahon” are just some of many I found particularly useful as they usually provide their own test results. There seems to be some controversy about the battery. A common theme is that 12000 lumens does not appear attainable except maybe in the first few seconds after activation.(see their graphs) That said it is still a powerful light though it seems to step down very quickly. Their tests suggest the max lumen availability on flood and flood plus spot after 30 seconds is around 7000-9500 lumen max. Nearly all high power lights dip after a short while so look up the reviews and make your own decision if the max lumen output is important to you. Generally, once continuous full step down takes place, the light is able to sustain a good level output for some time and does not get too hot thanks to the temperature control function . In the comments section of some of the Youtube videos people have said that the light pulls 35/37 amps of power in Turbo through a 6,500 mah battery only having a continuous discharge rate of 6.7amps. I got the impression they were implying there may be the possibility of overheating the battery and the potential safety concerns if used for long periods on Turbo and High. Tim McMahon graphs suggests that going into turbo also knackers the supplied battery over time, reducing the power available. One solution suggested is to use a 21700 battery with a 45 amp discharge capacity to maintain power output safely and prevent battery damage; though you have to improvise a spacer to fit the barrel of the torch as this is not provided. I have bought a 21700 recommended 45amp cell and it works fine. Make sure it is a 3.7v battery though as some commentators warn 3.2v batteries go flat quickly. Apart from that I love this relatively small but high power output light. It just about qualifies for a pocket torch and has auto lock so should be safe to carry. A lanyard is provided as an option. I am very pleased with my purchase so don't let the negative opinions about the battery put you off, though it may be prudent to fact check the voracity of the claims made about the safety of the battery. In the real world I use it in lower settings as they are still quite bright, with only occasional Turbo so I should hopefully avoid the battery degradation mentioned. I also have the backup of the 45A cell. NB. Sofirn do not apparently supply spare batteries!

99.99% Fantasico
Had to leave a review, what an awesome torch. When you hit a certain age, something such as a new powerful torch is - not exactly on par with Christmas day as a kid - or the equivalent of the reader if name of religious festival differs from the previous mentioned, but it is certainly close - and I really do mean that.Easy to navigate through the menu. Ridiculously powerful. Touching on the menu aspect again a little here, but it's defo of relevance, being able to jump to the highest setting in a couple of clicks is much better than previous models, in fact before, was a little like watching a woodpecker at work!If you are a non instruction reader, the only thing you need to know is, it has the equivalent of a phone screen being locked, a 60 degree turn of the menu wheel (I love the precision here) and you're in. When I say that, I don't mean it has to be exactly a 60 degree turn, I guess if we're being picky it should be a 60 degree turn or more, or throw in the famous "at least" a 60 degree turn =D. It also auto locks after 15 seconds of being switched off, You'll work the rest out by having a fiddle!

One Beast Of A Torch That Leaves Others In The Shade
The brightest torch in my Sofirn Collection. In the immediate vicinity this torch can turn night into day. Straight forward operating system that is quickly mastered. Overall, a superb piece of equipment. Two very minor niggles though. The rubber cover for the charging port has such a small tail to grab hold of it's a fiddle to get it out of the port. Secondly, having to turn the wheel to turn the torch on is a bit of a faff and if you need a quick turn-on. A quick double press on the button would have been better.A useful addition would be the light on the button stays on when in use so you can more easily locate it in the dark.Albeit a couple of minor niggles this unit more than warrants it's five start review.Overall though. an amazing piece of kit which was worth every penny. Turns night into day.

Did not work!
The 3rd torch ordered from this company that only worked if plugged in. We already owned other torches from Sofrin and have been delighted with the quality and operation, so this has been disappointing.

Very Bright, amazingly wide coverage.
Super bright and massive even light coverage.Build quality seems good but the unlock feature (spin the light output dial quickly) takes a while to get used to but at least it stops accidental operation.I have a light of slightly lower max output from some years ago and it’s three times larger and a lot heavier, it’s amazing how much light can be produced from a light this size.
