Finally a smart lock that gets it right!
The media could not be loaded. I’ve been using this smart lock for a few months now, and I’m impressed! After installing it on my front door and using it for a few weeks, I liked it so much that I decided to “upgrade” my back door too, so I bought a second one.Pros:1. Premium LookIt looks rich, if you know what I mean. Sleek, minimalistic design. I went with the dark color, and it looks amazing!2. Solid Build QualityThe lock feels premium and sturdy, definitely not a flimsy gadget. It fit perfectly on my existing deadbolt with no issues.3. Accurate Fingerprint SensorThe fingerprint sensor works well. not quite as fast as on Android phones, but still very quick and reliable. You can create multiple users in the app and assign several fingerprints per user. This feature alone is a game-changer for me!4. Battery LifeI’ve been using it for 5 months with the original batteries, and the app still shows the battery level as “High.” That’s impressive and gives me confidence in its energy efficiency.5. Flexible Unlock OptionsI can unlock it using my fingerprint, keypad, NFC tag, Apple Home Key, or remotely via the app (note: a hub is required for remote access). It’s incredibly convenient, especially when my hands are full or I’m not home.I also love the ability to create temporary passcodes or grant short-term access to my daughter’s friends or delivery drivers directly from the app.It integrates seamlessly with Apple HomeKit, a big plus for me.6. Auto-Lock DetectionThe deadbolt automatically detects when the door is closed and locks itself, no need to remember to lock the door manually. Very convenient!7. Easy InstallationThe installation was very easy and straightforward, thanks to the step-by-step video guide in the app. I highly recommend downloading the Aqara app and using it during setup — it makes the process simple and smooth.Cons (More Like Wishlist Items):1. App Learning CurveThe app is packed with features, which is great, but it lacks clear explanations for many of the settings. It took me some time to figure out what each toggle and option actually did. That said, the default settings work just fine, but I like to explore everything and had to spend some time doing so.2. User Access SharingGranting access to other users is a bit clunky. It requires them to create their own Aqara account, which isn’t ideal. I wish there were a simpler way to provide temporary access without requiring account registration.3. Auto-Lock SensitivityOccasionally, the auto-lock feature triggers unintentionally. For example, if someone accidentally touches the lock. It’s not a big issue, but I hope they improve the detection algorithm in future firmware updates.Bottom line: All of the negatives I listed are minor and more like nitpicks or wishlist items rather than actual problems.Overall, I highly recommend this lock to anyone looking to upgrade to a modern smart lock without compromising on security or convenience!

Very good so far
We picked this up to replace an older smart lock that finally gave out. Installation was pretty straightforward, though I didn’t find a physical manual in the box. Instead, I had to scan a QR code to access their website, where they walk you through the process with a video. It’s easy to follow—just take your time and you’ll be fine. One thing that did bug me: yet another app download. It feels like every device these days comes with its own app just to do one job. Still, in this case, the app is essential—there’s really no way around it.I’ve run into a couple of hiccups with smart home integration. I use the Samsung SmartThings app for most of my devices. While I see other models from this brand listed there, this particular model doesn’t show up. It looks like I’ll need to buy a separate hub to connect it, which I’m hoping resolves the issue. It would be disappointing if I can’t sync it with the rest of my setup. That said, the lock itself has been great so far. The mechanism is quiet and fast—much better than my old Kwikset, which made a loud, drawn-out grinding noise every time it locked or unlocked. This one gets the job done quickly and cleanly.I’ll try to post an update after some time. Living in Southern Arizona, I’m especially curious to see how well it holds up in the desert heat and sun.

Better than my old Schlage
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Pros:Super easy to install. Nice features over other smart locks. Nice sturdy build. Apple Homekey works great (also see below). Fingerprint sensor works great. Cons:Knob on back feels a little flimsy compared to other locks I’ve tested. Homekey only works with one phone unless you buy a separate Apple hub device. Overall, this is a great lock and nicer than my 5-year old Schlage with much improved features. I was slightly let down for the lack of having the ability to have my family use Homekey without purchasing a separate hub. Although this is no fault of Aqara’s, it doesn’t seem to be explicitly mentioned in their advertising or documentation that you need to buy a hub to use Homekey with more than one device.
