Excellent for growing nail

A friend had recommended this product, but I was leery because I’d tried something similar in the past that I didn’t feel lived up to its hype. I’ve had gel manicures for decades because I felt the gel made my nails stronger so they could grow, but last summer my nail tech told me to take a break and get my nails in good condition before going back to gel polish. It’s been so freeing not having to set up nail appointments every couple of weeks, and my cuticles have even done better. At first, my nails were thin and soft, but eventually they began to get a bit of strength back. However, they were peeling and tearing. I decided to try my friend’s recommendation, and I’m so glad I did! I put it on only once a week; in the beginning this product is all I put on my nails, but now I sometimes put polish over it. In about two weeks my nails were stronger and healthier - there’s been no more peeling, tearing, or breaking! Last week I actually had to use clippers and a file to take them down a bit because they’d gotten so long, and I’ve never had to do that before!! I may go back to the nail salon occasionally just to get the hand massage as a treat, but my nails are healthier than they’ve ever been and I can now do them myself!

Bought this on recommendation from a friend. The product seems to work, but caused medical nail issues for me. The nail hardener burns sometimes hours after applying, despite carefully applying and avoiding cuticles and skin. This only happened intermittently. When I removed it a week ago, some of my nails were red, then developed purple and red marks which worsened and became very painful. Sleeping at night was difficult because fingertips were throbbing. Saw my dermatologist who said I had blood and bruising underneath the nails which is a reaction and to never use this product again. She said this is very painful and pointed out white area on one nail where nail is separating from nail bed from the damage. This can lead to several types of infections and I was prescribed a topical antibiotic and told to avoid having my hands in water. The hardener contains several problematic ingredients (look them up!) Formaldehyde, for one, is carcinogenic! Please, do your homework before ordering or using such products. FYI, I haven’t used gel, acrylic, etc. in years, so not a contributing factor.

So I felt compelled to write this review because I saw so many negative reviews regarding the pain. Yes, there is pain but for me it did not last more than an hour. I kept my mind off the slight pain and before I noticed it was gone. The pain was like when you first remove your acrylic and you put your hands in hot water, but it’s not a hard numbing pain. At least that’s not what I felt. One day after of using this product my nails are already hardening. I am not lying to you. I tried the OPI nail envy for a seven day a I noticed a slight difference within a period of seven days but with this product within one day, my nails have already felt stronger and harder. So I’ve been wearing Gelx for over a year, switching it out every week and I just removed them two weeks ago and every single nail was splitting chipping all the bad things that you can imagine for your nails I couldn’t even scratch my face because my nails were so weak , I am desperate for this to work.
