Wearing a mask while deaf isn't easy
I wear hearing aids, and the elastic loop on a face masks often pulls an aid out of place, sometimes entirely out of my ear. I could lose a hearing aid if I remove a mask in a busy public place. I certainly can't hear an aid hit the ground. These bands eliminate the problem altogether, and make wearing a mask a lot more comfortable. One improvement I'd like is a way to attach the band to one loop of the mask "permanently," so that I only have to hook up the second loop of the mask; that way, I'd know right away "which end is up" on the mask, and putting it back on would be quicker and easier.

The package looks like it has two but there are actually 5
Unfortunately...I gave a premature review. My apologies to the seller. Received the package I purchased for my parents. Was expecting 5. Saw there were only 2 in the package. When my parents open it up...they realized there were more pieces tucked behind the original two. So...there ARE 5. My parents did say they worked well when the masks are not tight but do slip off if masks elastics are tight. So it will be a hit or miss for some. Worth the purchase if you don't like the elastics tucked behind your ear or wear glasses.

A bit cumbersome to use
I first saw these mask-strap holders at my doctor's office. He explained that the straps were rubbing his ears raw and his wife found these things and it solved the problem. Since I wear glasses and hearing aids, there isn't much room for ear straps to get in there, so I decided to try them out.OK, they work well once you get them on. Getting there is a bit of a hassle and the straps seem to want to work their way out of the holders. Once in place, they do the job. Don't be surprised if, in getting the straps off, you see the holding unit sail across the floor. All in all, I'd buy them again.

Very Helpful After Some Getting Used To
I put up with mask-induced sore ears throughout the pandemic and figured there was nothing I could do about it.Then I found these on Amazon and figured I'd give them a shot.At first, I couldn't really figure out how to use them properly. The photos on the product page help, but in practice, it was tricky. I tried a few times and gave up and nearly forgot about them.A couple of weeks ago, though, I found one lying around the house and I tried again, and this time the results were much improved. It just takes practice and patience to determine how tight the mask should fit around your nose and mouth, and where the plastic extender strip itself should rest on the back of your head.I usually attach my mask straps to the second hook on each side of the extender, and the extender itself rests behind and below my ears; basically just above my neck. Now I use the extender regularly and my ear discomfort has pretty much disappeared. I highly recommend these if you can give them a few tries before tossing them aside.

Slides down back of neck and puts pressure on top of ears and nose
Since I still need to wear masks in office 8+ hours per day, I thought these would be helpful at relieving the pressure on the backs of my ears. What I've experienced over the past week of use is that the design, while simple and cheap, more or less just shifts the pressure and doesn't offer much relief.1. The length of the device is about 1 1/2" behind each ear (this will vary depending on the size of your head), which means the bands on the mask need to stretch further to reach the device. This adds tension to the elastic and pulls the front of the mask into the face harder. I've found that extra pressure on the nose VERY bothersome. It's very uncomfortable to have your nose smooshed down like that.2. The design SHOULD sit behind the ears but instead it slides down the curve of the skill to rest at the top of the neck, pulling the mask bands downward and digging into the tops of the ears. Along with the extra tension from the bands, this is not what I was hoping for.Overall, it's a fine idea but has poor execution. I imagine if you're a child or petite and have a smaller head, it might not be so problematic, but as a 6' tall grown man, these are just making the situation worse.

Mask Holder
The mask holders were especially helpful during the past Covid season while at the hair salon.

Worth it, though expect adjusting
What I learned through Covid was my ears aren’t that strong!Snug masks were always making my ears bend.So I found these straps which are awesome. My only gripe is, the mask will tend to slide down so I’m often adjusting. It’s all good though. I’m alive. And my ears thank me.
