Like Mma Ramotswe, I love this tea!
I’m sure I’m not the only one who was introduced to this tea by reading Alexander McCall Smith’s wonderful #1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series. Mma Ramotswe loved this tea and drank a lot of it, so I decided to order some to see what it was like. I am thrilled to say that it is even better than I had anticipated. With an earthy, yet light and slightly sweet flavor, it warms my 3:00 tea time. With no caffeine, I can enjoy it without fear of losing sleep that night. Now, I look forward to relaxing with a cup of rooibos tea every day. I have not tried any other brand than Laager, but will stick with it as it is so good.

The best, according to my S, Afr'n grand daughter
Schuyler, my 5 year old granddaughter, is very discerning, when it comes her bed time snack. If it's not Laager she won't drink it. Try to slip her a FreshPak, she'll know the difference. She says Laager is fresher and more delicate. I tend to agree with her. South Africans take their tea very seriously. Not only black tea but also rooibos. Rooibos isn't really a tea but more of a tisane. So, the longer you brew, the darker the color and the more flavorful. Rich in antioxidants it's a healthy drink.

Stale and Weak
This was a disappointment as someone who grew up on this brand of rooibos, use to drink it with my grandma when we would visit South Africa as children. It came with a stale almost bitter tast. I normally don’t need a lot of sugar with this tea only half a teaspoon, due to its naturally sweet taste, but this one needed more. The steeping time was longer too, I had to actually place a saucer over the cup and walk away while it steeped and even then it was kind of weak still. Maybe I got a bad box but its no worth wasting time and money on bad batches when we pay more for the tea here in America than it would be at home.

So far, my favorite Rooibos
I received a box of this brand from a friend that visited from South Africa. Once it was gone, I thought I wouldn’t find it in the US. After literally trying 8 other brands, I discovered it on Amazon - yay! It made me a Rooibos convert so until I find one that I enjoy more (most are too weak for this reformed Colombian coffee drinker) this will stay on my shopping list.

Weak to no taste-would return if I could!
Not the same taste I knew from before. No taste or smell in this batch I received. Very weak tea even with multiple sachets used. Have to add milk and sugar to add some taste to make it drinkable. I kept hoping it would improve, but alas, remains tasting like mainly boiled water. Will never buy again. Freshpak is better.

Cheaper but better
I have tried other brands of South African Rooibos Tea, found one that I like but it's twice the price of Laager. I hesitated to order Laager due to its relatively low price, well, I am glad I gave it a try. It has the distinctive Rooibos tea aroma and the tea is naturally sweet, no trace of bitterness at all.

Been drinking this since the 1980s
A friend introduced me to Rooibos tea from South Africa in the 1980s. I live in Southern California and find this tea to be thirst-quenching and refreshing. It has a dark, mellow flavor, like black tea, but without caffeine. I learned to drink this brand and don't like the brands in my grocery store.
