The Eucharist: Sacrament of the Kingdom

The Eucharist
Thank you for selling this book, it will be treasured and read and reread, the Eucharist is central to our life as humans and spiritual beings. The fact that the book is used only makes it more special to me. The coffee spill, wrinkling of pages is but an expression of the value of tthe book. Meaning the book traveled where the owner went. As our lives age, we suffer from coffee stains and bend and broken pieces. Nothing is more central to the aging of our spirit and souls than the Eucharist. Alexander Schmemann wrote only as he lived and knew and experienced. This book is written at the end of his life. I whole hearty recommend this book. The seller onc1958 thank you. The book arrived quickly and in great shape, may you be blessed in your book sales.

Could simple fisherman from Galilee comprehend this?
I am not a member of the Orthodox Church, in physical body, but have called on the Lord Jesus Christ to save me and remember me just as the thief on the cross once requested. The vocabulary, language, and composition of this book is not for the regular saint and it is difficult for me to think this is how the Lord explained the Eucharist to Peter. I get the impression that Fr. S is writing more to the elders or leaders in the Orthodox Church. The entire book seems beyond simple comprehension and borders on the very complaint he is making about trying to explain the mystical with science. I would say the Lord's Supper and Sacrament is beyond attempts to breakdown into so many parts. If Jesus needed to use this book he would have never had time to make it to the Garden to be betrayed by Judas and would have possibly missed the Cross. My faith is much much much more simple and I take the Eucharist with thanksgiving while trusting in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to bring me unto the breast of Christ, where I can lay my head and let His body and blood give me eternal life. The Lord's Supper is a sacrament that is temporary until I actually get to heaven and can physically hug the Lord, cry on His loving heart, and then eat at His table knowing I am forever safe from evil. Even if it is the last seat in the House. Until then, I can only proclaim, as did the apostles, Lord where else could I go as you have the Words of Life. AMEN

Maybe the best theological book I ever read...
....not only on Eucharist. When you are reading it with open mind & heart, you feel and know that you are near the Truth. Fr. Alexander does not argue, does not postulate any hypothesis. From the depths of his own faith and love for Christ and love for Church he shares his deepest knowledge about the Sacrament of Eucharist, about the Kingdom of God, about Church and about Men.

The Eucharist
The Eucharist is, I think, not only Alexander Schmemann's finest work, but also one of the best and most accessible works of theology ever written. Like the Eucharist itself, you do not study this book -- you enter into it. I have read it many times over the years and continue to refer to it. -- Father Rand York+

Very well written and, as it comes over, from experience backed up by statements from scripture and Church Fathers, this book is a must for anyone who wants to gain a different view of the meaning of 'church' and 'the eucharist', new as in fresh and full of meaning now, as well as original in the the true sense of the word, i.e. going back to the origins.Although written from the perspective of the Orthodox Christian, I feel it is equally valid for any Christian as indeed it offers meaning which is unifying rather than divisive. This is what makes it an important book.In fact I would recommend the book to anyone interested in religion.
