The main battery that comes with the XPS m1530 has a 1hr battery life when on a screen brightness so low that you can hardly read fonts. This battery is tremendous with a battery life indicator on the battery illuminating remaining battery life. This battery helps with one of the primary fatal flaws of the XPS m1530 which is overheating due to poor air circulation. This battery puts the laptop at an angle so that the fan can better circulate the heat. In terms of battery life, this battery will yield 2 hrs on the screen brightness two tiers from full brightness which is legible and makes the laptop a great deal more versatile. You can now type a paper or bring your laptop to class without worrying that you forgot your power cable. It would be great it the battery could give 3hrs, but that is a stretch considering these computers are generally built for gaming.

Well it was way cheaper than the $150 one from Dell. Installed and worked fine for about a month. Then it would have power but you had to plug and unplug it a few times to get it to charge. Then it stopped charging altogether. I have since sold the laptop so I don't know if the new owners figured anything out.

Good alternative to the more expensive Dell battery. Don't expect it to last more than a couple years - which is common for most laptop batteries, so why pay more?
