Optima yellow top 218D35
This is my fourth purchase of an Optima dry cell battery. I still have all four.My old Chevy 4x4 pick up. I bounced down the road cause I drove the heck out of it. Battery acid was everywhere and I was replacing the wet cell batteries every year. In 2006,I installed an Optima Red Top. No more spills and better starting power. I have used that same old Red Top in two pick ups and one car, sold the cars but kept the battery for a spare cause it fits most applications and still starts most any car or pick up at 6 years old. In 2006 our new pick up kept going dead cause we parked it most if the time. The alarm system would kill the wet cell battery after a couple of weeks parked. Bought a Yellow top, now it can be parked for just over a month with the alarm on before the batter goes low. We stored the pick up for three months with the alarm off and it never went dead. Yea you car alarm will kill your battery eventually. Yea you'll need a deep cycle type maintenance free setting on your home battery charger, if you need to recharge Optima batteries. Most new chargers have that setting too.If you buy a new charger with the 50 amp jump starting feature, you'll never wait for a tow truck. My old 2008 corolla needed a replacement battery in 2012. Yep, Optima Yellow Top was my choice cause I like to listen to the stereo with the engine off for hours. The car always starts right up now. Oh yea put two Optima Blue Tops in my boat for peace of mind. Wired in a Perko boat battery switch so I never have a dead battery. If we beach the boat and play the stereo all day long, I can switch to the full battery to insure we all get home safely. Yea you can do the same with wet cell batteries but they won't last as long and charge back up as easy as Optima batteries. Plus you can mount Optimas sideways or upside down to make more room. Just don't short out the battery terminals. Note:some modification of battery mount hardware may be needed in some applications but most just fit perfect. Check the battery post locations before you buy. I looked at the over priced batteries at my local car parts store first, took some measurements, then ordered from Amazon.Yes Optima batteries are about double the price of most replacement wet cell batteries, but well worth it.Amazon is awesome, the lowest price and you don't have to carry the new battery home. Who doesn't love free shipping. Order yours today and in about a week the nice Fed Ex or UPS person will carry that heavy battery right to your door or garage.

Not a reliable OPTIMA battery that we knew
Just stay away and buy something that still cares for its reputation. I used to trust Optima and was willing to pay a premium for its ability to survive cold winters and last more than a few years. The very first Optima that I bought back in 2005 lasted for 10 years. Then the one that I bought in 2015 lasted 5 years. From that time, things have gone downhill. My last purchase less than 8 months ago failed recently, so I decided to follow up with Optima warranty on it. Victory of hope over harsh reality again. There is a special warranty support email address for Amazon buyers. Sent an email, received an automated response that "we will get back to you in 2 business days," and that was the last I heard from them. Too bad—just another brand "gone global" that turned into an overpriced battery still trying to ride on its great past reputation.

Solid
Has been powering my Subaru for about five years, mostly in a coastal city, with six months in the desert, and has gotten me across the country both ways in the middle of winter. I don't think I ever needed a jump except once when I left the dome light on 😅. No complaints.

A wise Birthday gift request!
After doing a lot of research on AGM batteries, I finally decided on this one. This was a Birthday gift for my son, to be installed in his '03 Subaru Forester.I started out looking at the Optima Red Top, but the reviews were not as as good & people I know have had problems with their Red Top battery failing. Now the choice was between the Sears DieHard Platinum & the Optima Yellow Top.The Sears DieHard Platinum looks like a very good battery & it's said to be made by Odyssey. Not really sure that's true? What pushed me over to the Optima Yellow Top was the heaver weight, much higher cost & shipping hassles if I went with the Sears DieHard Platium. The Optima Yellow Top was delivered quickly by UPS. It comes in a heavy-duty, double walled cardboard box. The battery inside the box was protected with more cardboard packing & the top of the battery was covered with a protective plastic cover. With the attached removable lift handle, the battery was easy to remove from the shipping box. The battery was in perfect condition! We found the Optima Yellow Top sits lower than a standard type 35 battery. Not a problem, since a spacer is provided, which snaps onto the bottom of the battery. This made the battery fit perfectly in my son's '03 Subaru Forester. The battery comes fully charged, so once we hooked up the cables, the engine started right up!We would recommend this battery & the plan is to install one of these in our other 2 vehicles.► Update - October 23, 2012Since I wrote this review, I bought another Optima Yellow top for our '95 Neon Sport. I should note that this isn't a direct replacement for the stock battery in the stock location! We relocated the battery to the trunk & a sealed battery (less chance of gassing) was the way to go. We completed this project over the summer & it was a complete success! As to the previous battery installed in the my son's '03 Subaru Forester. It's been 100% trouble free! :)► Update - July 13, 2016We have 3 of these now & 100% trouble free! :)

Best thing I did.
Upgraded to a yellow top after my car felt sluggish to start in the winter. The extra power behind this technology helps my car start in below freezing temperatures just like warm or hot days. It came with adapters to help get the right fit. It's a car battery so just like any others it definitely has weight to it. As mentioned before my car starts quickly with no issues. Installation was easy.
