I almost didn't purchase this item because of the negative reviews here, but I'm very glad I did. Tissue holders can pose a real problem for the decorator. Cardboard tissue boxes look terrible no matter how decorative they try to make them; they take down the tone of a room. But most tissue covers are designed to go with bathroom sets, so they don't look nice out on a living room shelf either. This one looks nice anywhere a stack of handsome books looks nice, and in my house at least, that's just about every room.I bought this cover for a guest bathroom that I've decorated to be a fun "reading nook." It's working well there. Yes, the other reviewers are right: a box of tissues doesn't fit inside. But honestly, why would anyone break one of these holders trying to cram a tissue box inside it anyway? It's the work of about thirty seconds to rip into a cardboard tissue box, remove the stack of tissues, and put them into this holder. Problem solved. Just throw that tacky cardboard box away.The quality and finish of this product really surprised me for the price: it looks very nice even up close, with the look of being hand-made. Now that I've grasped the fact that this thing looks good anywhere, I'm buying them for other rooms in my house.

I like that they have the look of stacked books on a side table. Only on a closer inspection is it evident that it is a tissue box cover.Now, the reason that I gave only a 4 on craftsmanship was because in order to give an appearance of stacked books, it is comprised of three book shapes made of wood. It is the size and shape to enclose a large box of Kleenex. However, when the book shapes including uneven page appearance were stacked unevenly for aesthetics, the inside is also staggered layers jutting into the space that the tissue box must fit into. It doesn't. To get the tissues to fit and work as required, they must be removed from the box. The way is blocked for the box unless you take dremel saw or such to the inside to remove the impediments.

This "Library-book-look-alike" tissue books is really cute, sturdy and so much better looking than a paper tissue box with the brand name all over it. However, beware that regular tissues boxes (small, medium or square) do not fit in this holder. I had to take the tissues out of their normal box and put them "naked" into the decorative box. Not a big deal, but I wish I would have known that, which is why it only got 4 stars from me.

I'm a counselor and see lots of tears... so lots of comments :) Only rated a four because upon delivery, the screws on the top were torn out and had to replace with toothpick in holes to make them stay, could only find three of four screws for hinges. Even so, almost every client who see it comments on how pretty it is.

This tissue box is the perfect combination of colors for my room. It's nice looking and sturdy and holds a regular size box of tissues. However, if you use the larger size boxes like you get at BJ's or Costco you have to take the tissues out of the original box and place them inside this one. The colors are rich and it looks very nice.

Solid, great looking. I would order another.Doesnt fit the tissue box but it takes 2 seconds to transfer and if you didnt take the box out you would be able to see it.

* Fabulous idea. Poor execution.* It does hold a standard boxfull of tissues, but not the box.* The top is hinged, and one of the hinges was broken and unfixable due to cheap construction.* The lid lifts and falls noisily every time you take a tissue. Better to put the hinged opening on the bottom.Happy to have it on my bedstand, but won't be buying any as gifts. Too bad.

As others mentioned tissue box does not fit but I just removed tissue from box and place it in. It worked good. This is elegant item for living room of office.
