A well built tripod.
I purchased this tripod for use with my Evostar 72 ED-DS Astronomical Telescope. Whilst I did have to purchase another locking screw in order to attach the telescope securely to the tripod shoe, other than that, I have been well pleased with this product. It is well constructed, reasonably light weight and no trouble to use in the dark. At the price, a great buy.

Pretty impressed
Nice quality tripod, holds my giant 15x70s without any problem. In fact, I'm getting way more resolution & clarity out of my binos because the Orion tripod is so much sturdier than a couple other tripods I have used. I can't wait to try these on a pair of 80 mm but I can definitely tell you these things are rock steady on my large 70mm.The extendable rising shaft with crank is a nice touch. This is actually works if you have people of different heights that want to view, the object stays in alignment and focus at diff't heights. What I mean is say I'm looking at a star cluster and I'm 5' 10". I can simply use the crank to lower the binoculars and family member who is 5 foot even can see item in focus without having to realign the binos This is because the tilt & azimuth of the object is maintained while the crank simply lowers the height. This is probably true of other tripods with a lowering crank, but it's real steady and smooth and thought I'd point this out as this is also one of the selling points of parallelogram bino mounts (that objects remain in view even if the mount is lowered for shorter viewers). If I had any complaints it's that there's more plastic on the tripod than I'd like, but it's so solid this is a mild complaint. It doesn't affect the stability at all.Pan head works well. For the money it is highly functional and holds it's position well. Its not a $200 head, but well made and does the job. Has made stargazing an absolute joy. The pan head is all plastic, but stable. The shoe appears to be metal. The legs appear to be aluminum. Hard to tell but appears most of the rest of the tripod is a strong plastic. If you don't overload it this should not be an issue, and honestly this thing is THE best choice under $100, period. I think you'd have to spend at least $125-150 to even match it for astronomy. One last tip, if you are buying a tripod for astronomy, make SURE it has the telescoping rising center shaft, preferably with the crank. It makes things to much easier. Many of the tripods I see on Amazon even pricier ones, are heavy duty or video tripods and many lack the crank or even telescoping center shaft. That's why I went with this one and I'm happy I did. This shipped quickly from Orion directly and those guys always respond to questions, totally thumbs up on this purchase.RECOMMENDED

Trepied solide et supportant des jumelles de 1,5kg.
Excellent produit.

Best combination for birding
I have purchased and tested 6 tripods for birding and this is the best balance of weight and stability. The others are either way to heavy or way to flimsy and shipped back. This tripod is lightweight yet very stable. FWIW, I use a 20-60 X 82 Nikon spotting scope.
