Set Locks

So - the family and I went away on vacation a few months ago. The day we were leaving, we were scheduled to have a new hot water heater installed in our basement. Long story short, we left for the airport, the plumber came and did the install, and when he finished locked EVERY single entrance to our basement! We had never locked the door, had no idea where to even begin looking for a key, and subsequently had no way to get into our basement!!I was about to send my 15yr old through one of the casement windows, when I decided to just poke around at youtube and see if there was a way to pick a lock - I saw a few videos and they all made it seem WAY too easy, but I figured rather than calling a locksmith or risk injuring my son, it might be worth taking a chance on trying this for myself... ...and after receiving the pick set a short while ago and practicing for less than two minutes on the provided lock, I am happy to report that I managed to unlock my basement door on the first shot, within TEN SECONDS!!!Pros: Simple, affordable, efficient, and absolutely works!! A complete and utter novice like myself was able to pick a lock within ten seconds!Cons: A complete and utter novice like myself was able to pick a lock within ten seconds! That should scare ANYONE who thinks they're safe, when they lock their doors!Bottom line: This is an exceptionally handy tool, for just the situation I described. I couldn't be happier with the purchase and I know I saved money while avoiding potential injury to my son. But, this has also been an eye-opening lesson for me on security and how ridiculously easy it is to pick a lock - it took all of $15 and two days shipping, before I was able to break into my basement.BE SAFE EVERYONE!!!!

This is a fun little toy. The contents include a resin casted lock, where you can see all of the internal components, and a lock picking set.The lock picking set contains everything that you might expect. The one thing I can say is that the tools are not of the highest quality, but they work. Just don't try to force the lock. Lock picking is all about finesse.I bought this kit for my wife, who loves puzzles. She had no idea how to pick a lock before this, but figured it out in about an hour. Now she can get this lock open within a minute. Lots of fun. I recommend it.This might be obvious, but don't use this lock as an actual lock. There are better options out there. This is a toy and a tool for learning lock picking.

I was able to open it with the pick set, but when I continued to practice, a large piece of plastic broke off, then the springs for the tumblers popped out everywhere and the lock became useless because of the busted plastic. Was fun while it lasted. Would increase my rating if I could get a replacement for the original that shattered.

Exactly what I needed to help me achieve the lifelong goal of becoming the most awesomest master locksmith this world (and all other worlds for that matter) has ever seen. Seriously tho - these things are pretty cool. Packaging was pretty terrible, but who cares - the product came as advertised. The locks have a crystal clear body and can easily see how it all works. Seems pretty high quality too... maybe use these to lock up your kids stuff (when they're being bad) and see if they learn to pick it. :P

Im dealing with a lot of vacant home which don't the keys and i am a builder not a locksmith but after spending so much money on locksmith i order this kit that solved me A LOT of money and timevery easy to learn how to use it and open locks as this kit is explaining and teaching you how to use itHighly Recommended !!!!

 Was eager to receive this lock and lock pick set after reading over a number of positive reviews; however, the lock I received is much too easy to open.Only the first pin needs to be slightly elevated to open the lock. I was assuming each pin would need to be manipulated to open the lock.

This set came with multiple locks but only one of them was a tumbler type that is common. It was a simple padlock. All the others were strange key and tumbler types that I've never encountered before. I would have liked to see something like a deadbolt or automotive key lock.Also, after learning to pick the one useful lock tumbler and using it for a couple days, the internals are getting worn to the point that the pins wobble in their sockets and it's really hard to unlock even with the key.

Bought this as a Christmas gift for my 11 year old son. At first he was kind of like, "Oh, a transparent lock, thanks." When I showed him that included the pick tools, he started to enjoy it much more :) The lock was just the right amount of challenge to whet the appetite but not get totally frustrated. He's now able to pick the lock pretty reliably, but he's still getting his head around the mechanics. It's definitely easy enough to pick by just sort of moving the tools around, and I'm hoping he'll keep up enough to be useful in case of lockouts.
