coons be gone
This the second trap of this kind that I bought. It is strong, well made, and the coons don't get out. I've captured six so far for relocation and it works great. I set in the evening with a small can of cat food(which they love), right in front of the pedal. I have used other traps but somehow they got out. I'm still baffled as to how. Now this one here, they don't get out. I pick it up the next morning and take to release several miles up the road in a swamp. I found that if you move them immediately after they get caught, the animal is very defensive and fiesty. If you leave them in overnight they are usually worn out trying to get out and though defensive, they have lost a good bit of thier vinegar so to say. There is a small clip that released the door in the back, and I usually put a towel over the cage so they don't get too excited. I have had some that will growl and snap at your hand (on other traps) while you are attempting to open the door. Here you simply released the clip and slide the door straight up with a pair of channel locks just in case. Depending on how the coon is facing they usually run right out and off usually straight up a tree , but some just run off. I had one who never turned around and realized it was free so I had to move the cage around a bit to call it to his or her attention. I'm very happy with the performance of this product, and would recommend it to anyone who has need of coon remover. Well made and easy to set, transport, and release safely.

Raccone Trap
We have free range chickens on our homestead and they are safe in the coop at night or when we're away. Its one thing to know that you can loose your hens to the hawks (mostly when their young), bobcats, hogs, snakes and even a occasional panther (Central FL). To date this year; however, its only been the raccoons that have reduced our head count.I don't recall many reviews on this product at the time of purchase and I was concerned given the price. This trap is a good size and very sturdy. I have trapped 4 raccoons (all adult size) in the past two weeks without any damage to the trap. They have all been displaced (not my first choice / overruled) about 10 miles away without any harm to them at all. The rear release door makes a huge difference. I would like to see a taller carrying handle in order to keep hands further from the cage (self explanatory). I use a hook / strap to transport the trap. A cheap can of tuna fish is all it takes. Squirrels and one possum have taken the bait and have been released onsite without harm. I'm very pleased with this product and with minimal care, it will last for many years. Thank you.

Best Live Catch Trap EVER!
This trap is straight up AWSOME! It cost a more than others however it is money well spent. I have now been using it for more than a year. In my rural location the raccoons play havoc on my chickens, as well as eating a LOT of chicken feed. I have had 100% catch rate with this trap. I think that having the pressure pad made from heavy gage mesh wire that matches the actual cage makes it more challenging for the raccoons to just avoid stepping on the trigger pad, like you see them do in many of the online videos. I also have a trap similar to those sold by many feed stores for a lot less $$ but it has about a 20% fail to catch rate and the raccoons are such fast learners that if they escape once, they rarely make the same mistake a second time. I am going too buy a second one and stop waisting time with the cheaper low quality traps that I tried first.

Sadly disappointed.
For some reason they were unable to deliver the item. I did purchase this same trap from Northern before without any issues and was very pleased. I caught and relocated many raccoons, Ferrell cats and other pests. I wanted a second one. They immediately refunded my purchase price with many many apologies when I decided to cancel the order.

If I could give this ten stars I would.
When our old farm dog died we became infested with raccoons. I spent over 50 dollars on a trap that was torn apart by the first raccoon. I spent almost 70 dollars on a trap that lasted until the second raccoon and was torn apart. This one may cost more but nothing will tear it apart. It is very impressive for its reinforcement of steel in all the places that my other traps failed me on. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! Buy this one first!!!!
