A piece of leaky junk. It's supposed to shut the water off. It doesn't.And when it flows, it severely restricts the flow. Please tell me why everything is low quality these days. Are the manufactures trying to sell you the same thing over and over again? Is it a race to the price bottom?Come on everyone -- start demanding quality from manufacturers. Buying quality and durability once is way cheaper than buying over and over and ...

Love this timer Great quality, ease of operation and dependebility
Have used this Nelson manual timer for years. It has always worked well for me. I like the simplicity of ease of operation time increments are on the top making setting it to the time on you need fast. Set it and forget it. It turns off when timer has completed. The timers I have bought have been of quality Materials last for many seasons. At a previous home I had a Manifold with 4 outlets connected to one faucet with a timer connected to each outlet along with four corresponding hoses which allowed me to water the front yard each side and an additional hose for the front porch with a sprayer on it. When one section was watered all I had to do was set the next timer.Till all areas were watered. Then just shutting of the faucet.. I highly reccomend this product.

great
I love the simplicity of this timer. We didn't need one with settings for turning on the water at a future time, or that know how to not water in the rain. We just wanted a timer that we could turn on for a specific amount of time and know it will turn off after that amount of time. Some of the more complicated digital ones we have had in the past quit working and then we'd walk out into our yard and find the water had been going on for hours because the electronics quit working or the battery died. With this timer, it's just a round handle that you turn. Choose 15 minutes, one hour, 1 1/2 hours, etc. The water comes on immediately and you can feel confident that it will turn the water off when it's supposed to.

Leaky and the Timer is Unreliable
Not so great. First of all, the valve is not that tight, so I experienced leaks when I tried the device for the first time!Second of all, the timer didn't really work. I would set the time at 15, 30, 45 minutes, but the timer would just stay stuck at the same position. It had one job. One job! And couldn't do it.

Great design, easy to use.
I originally purchased one of these to replace another timer. When that timer failed, it left water running! Not a good outcome in drought country. I did not at first embrace the side mounted design but quickly discovered the great advantage in use. It's very intuitive, easy to set and I like the extended 2 hr time for deep watering trees, for example.Delivery was prompt and the packaging was perfect. Not over the top. I have three of these now and thank they're great! Will report back on how it lasts but so far very happy

Never worked. Useless, as it never shut my water off.
Just got this item 2 days ago to control water consumption, as my kids tend to leave the water hose on too long. We used it with a sprinkler. I set the timer for 30 min, an hour went by (I checked the clock on my phone before setting timer) & it had not shut off. Went to check water timer & it was stuck 1/2" before the auto off would shut flow off. This means the mechanical shut off valve is cheap & too weak to overcome the wate pressure to shut off. I had my water flow on the spigot set to 1/4 the water pressure of full on water flow.I then turned it on full stop open with water flow & set it to 15 min. I came back when 5 min were left. I watched it move until it got to the same place & it wouldn't shut off. This is a horrible product. The point is to TURN THE WATER FLOW OFF.....so if it doesn't do that, what's the point of it.I returned it & will replace it with a better known brand of mechanical auto water shut off because I don't want to have to rely on batteries to get it to shut off.DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT, IT IS A DEFECTIVE RIP OFF.

No More Wasting Water
A good way to water the lawn consistently. Once you learn how long it takes for your sprinkler to put down a specific amount of water, you can set the timer to water that amount each time. No more forgetting to turn the water off. Best of all, it's a simple mechanical timer. It's not programmable, but it's easy to set and no batteries to corrode inside!

None of them worked.
I purchase several at a time, because I live in the country and it is a pain to have to go into town to purchase one when the old one gives out. They used to last around two to three years and then give up. The last 4 that I have purchased were a solid disappointment. I pulled out a replacement and it would not open to let the water through. I cranked the top several times, but the timer would not engage. I pulled out a second replacement, but the same thing happened. I pulled out a third and it worked (thank goodness, I thought). My time for a return had lapsed, so ..Oh well. After a week the new replacement began to allow only a trickle through.Someone in the quality control department must have been asleep that day. I purchased them all at the same time. I have used them for years along with the lawn tractor (on my third set of replacement parts - love that machine - it does not give up). I guess I will only be able to buy one at a time from now on, or have to switch brands.

I thought paying a little more would mean a better product.
This unit did not work out of the box. The shutoff still allowed water through, I'm not sure why this is such a hard product to make work properly. I have tried 2 other brands and they were the same. I thought paying a little more would mean a better product ... not this time. I'm going to Lowes to buy 5, that way I'll be sure to get one that works I can return the rest. I need a new one each year because I forget to bring them inside when it freezes and they crack. perhaps all this hassle will teach me to bring them in??

Seems to function well, but will it survive being dropped?
The big nubs on the connector really help when you are connecting or disconnecting this item. It's a little confusing to try to interpret from the markings what amount of time the item is set for, because the setting disk will turn both ways. My main apprehension about this item is that it's made of plastic that seems pretty sturdy, but I'm not sure that it will survive being dropped (while on the end of a hose) onto decks, driveways, or sidewalks. Those abuses will inevitably happen occasionally in my yard environment.

finicky when it works.
does not always let water flow through when 'ON' or using timmer function .Restricts water flow enough that 20 feet of weeping hose is not kept pressurized. No issues with weeping hose when connected directly to tap (3/4 inch water line in house supplies tap).had 'Robert Bosch Tool Corp Nelson 56600 Shut-Off Water Timer' for 2 months.Sometimes does not fully shut off.

Causes pressure drop
It does work like a simple water timer but Unfortunately it causes a pressure drop when open like many others which causes insufficient pressure at my sprinkler.
