LUITON LT-590 VHF 60W/25W/10W Two-Way Radio Base Mobile Transceiver Amateur Ham Radio with Free Programming Cable(Black)

Best radio I've found for covering the Ham and Marine VHF bands. On medium power, repeaters 45 miles away give me a "10" signal strength and voice clarity score. On high power from station-to-station, I have no trouble reaching 60 miles very clearly. The mic has great controls, and the included software/cable make it easy to program. It's small size is amazing, for the number of functions, features, and power, I expected a much larger case size. I've checked out all the major brands, and this radio is superior in design and quality, at a much more reasonable price. I would highly recommend it.

New out of the box the mic had a bad connection at the radio. Very clear if you hold the mic cord to one side. Very easy to program. Sent it back

Bought the UHF version of this radio and loved it! Got this one and just tested it for working purposes. Everything good so far. See my review of the UHF for more details. UPDATE: Have used this radio for 2 months now. Overall good. Has an odd high-pitched oscillation present when receiving a carrier even using an external speaker so I decreased the review one star. It is not overwhelmingly loud but it is there and noticeable when using it in a quiet area such as a base station. Speaking of loud, the radio has plenty of loudness on receive and along that vein, seems to have a difficult time limiting/compressing the audio when a station is received that has a high amount of deviation (audio level on their end.) Otherwise, I still like the radio for all it does, especially as a mobile!

Very satisfied with transciever, must program with software that you download from them. Once you download it and enter the frequencies, offsets, and save it works great. Have vertical antenna on roof in 25 watts it reaches quiet a few repeaters.

Takes a little practice to be able to be able to program this radio manually. With that said it is a valuable asset to me now that I've had some time to get used to it.

giant POS...........software will not work! tried the cd, nothing. downloaded from the website, nothing. can't use CHIRP!!!I would give this a 0 star but that's not an option. spend the extra couple bucks and get a real radio.
