Tough install and connections
Bought 2 of these 5ft LED Battens to replace my kitchen Fluorescent battens and tubes. They are a pain to work with as the ends only have 5” of cable(!) The tracks in the aluminium frame are very narrow so you cannot use connectors, also the weak ceiling brackets need to pinch in from the sides, so you cannot have anything there. Solved by soldering in extra cabling with heat shrink sleeving. The back of the unit is meant to be mounted flush with the substrate, however on a ceiling this is very difficult as most ceilings are uneven, amplified over 5ft. Solved using washers. Also just 1 centre screw on mounting bracket will cause it to bow, its cheap weak metal. Solved using 2 screws either side of centre hole.1 LED batten was dim, and upon investigation in my test setup, I saw just 1 row of LED lights was lighting. The centre solder track had broken, due to a lack of sealant to secure the LED strip to its mounting frame. Solved by cleaning up and resoldering and extra sealant. All in all a real pain to prep, test and install, will never buy these again as they are too time consuming.

Avoid
This item is potentially dangerous. The mains electricity supply is very poorly insulated from the low voltage supplying the LED strip and the LED connections are virtually touching the aluminium body. Moreover the body is not earthed. Additionally, what looks like a pass-through mains lead (to allow daisy chain connections) is actually two independent mains leads to two separate driver modules - weird!I am an electrical engineer and corrected the problems as this item is classed as oversize and problematic to return. However, it is not a job for a hobby DIY person. I cannot advise purchasing this item until after the technical issues are corrected.Once fixed it gives a great light!

This light is rubbish and flickers when installed
Easy to fit, but the power supply is not up to the task and so the light flickers with a high frequency flicker which is really annoying. I sent the supplier an email asking for technical help, but no reply. Only 4 emails requesting that I leave feedback. So here's my feedback. It's rubbish! Save your money and go elsewhere for a lighting solution

Rubbish - poor packaging, poor quality and stop working after a few hours.
I never write reviews, but for this I will make an exception. I needed a very thin profile led strip light for my workshop which has a low roof and after much searching and very few results I find these. There were some dodgy reviews but there always are and there wasn't much choice so I thought I would take the plunge, order two and hope for the best. The packaging they arrived in was appalling and ripped to shreds so when I opened them the lights literally fell apart. To say they are flimsy is an understatement and the wiring inside looked decidedly cheap and poorly put together. The driver was literally loose inside the light with a small piece of insulation tape wrapped around it. After some time I managed to re-assemble the lights and then found that the fixing kit was missing for one of them (a replacement was sent about a week later after e-mailing the manufacturer).Although I was extremely dubious about the lights, I decided to put them up and give them a go. Once fitted they looked very nice and worked perfectly giving lots of light - Bingo I thought and put aside the packaging and quality problems.HOWEVER, about a month and approx 2 hours actual use later, one side of one of the lights stopped working (each light has two strips of led lights, one down either side). Because of where the light was situated, it didn't affect me too much and so although annoyed, I put up with it and hoped it was just a one off. Now, 6 months and approx 30 hours total use later, the same thing has happened to the other light. With inadequate light, out of Amazons return period and probably no hope any help from the very dubious manufacturer I have now ripped them from the ceiling and stuffed them in little bits into the nearest wheelie bin.So in summary, if you want poorly packaged, poor quality lights that stop working after very little use, splash out on these little beauties. Otherwise, save your money and buy something else until a decent well known manufacturer decides to make a similar product. Now I have to go and buy some fluorescent lights and a bump cap!

Good alternative to flourescent tubes
Pro - bright and fairly simple to install. Wont have to replace the old tubes in the kitchen.. well ever again I hope.Con - a bit of a silly thing, but as the strip is flat, there is no room for the connector. The old tubing had a metal bracket with space for the wire and connectors to be put into. This one screws into the ceiling, but there is no room to hide the excess wire or connectors. Couldnt fit it into the ceiling cavity after as there was not enough wire, so just had to put the strip on top of the wiring. Result is it is flush on one side, with the ceiling, but there is a gap on the other, where the wire runs. I think it would have been worse to leave the wiring exposed on the side of the light, but it could be done, then painted or something... Anyway, silly problem to have, but it does irritate me a little there is no grove or cavity to solve this issue. But product itself is good, so far.

Good light minor issues with fitting.
The light is used in my utility room replaces a 4ft florescent tube and produces a cleaner brighter light. Fitting can be an issue as there is a short lightweight cable which does not reach the centre of the light hence if you are replacing an old fitting where the cables come through the ceiling at the centre then you will need to extend the cable supplied (I used small block connectors, see picture) Note the standard lighting cable will not fit in the narrow recess on the back of the light to enable it to sit flush with the ceiling.
