Eats, Shoots & Leaves For Children: Why, Commas Really Do Make a Difference

Eats, Shoots and Leaves for children
I sent this as a present to my nephews, because it doesn't look too much like a school book (which means work) and is entertaining while teaching them a lot which isn't always taught at schools! (Pedant alert! don't let me get started on why children have such little grasp of grammar.)The pictures make it appealing to all ages - I have used it for helping adults as it puts things simpler than adult books yet they aren't too embarrassed about looking at a children's book.

Comma help - ideal starter
I am 36. I am useless using comma's. This book is aimed at kids, but it was a great starter for me. I now have a few other work books. Nothing seems to cover just comma's. This was a good start and it will be saved for when my kids need it

Excellent book for explaining correct use of commas to children
I bought it for my neighbour's children. My grandchildren found it very useful and the pictures sometimes funny. This second-hand book was in excellent condition.

I ordered this by mistake, intending to purchase another copy of the original (adult) book as a gift. I waved it under the nose of my 8 year old and it turned out to be a surprise hit. Having previously rolled her eyes about commas (and punctuation generally), she really enjoyed the cartoons and 'getting' the differences between the various examples. It's pretty thin on content, but what there is seems to work.

interesting
The pictures really illustrate the difference the comma makes to the meaning, whilst also being amusing.

Punctuation mark teaching
An excellent resource for my Y5 children who could appreciate the humour of the illustrations linked to the text, it inspired them to try their own ideas.

A quick pick-me-up
This is a very funny, witty book which gaves me the best laugh I've had in ages. But also makes you think. I loved it.

Hilarious examples even kids can understand.
A great kids book that can make learning grammar rules fun (wow - I never thought I would put those words together in a sentence)! Everybody I have shown this to loves it. There are wonderfully funny drawings on each page to emphasize exactly what each sentence means so readers can grasp exactly what is wrong. I think I learned more from this book than I did from my 2nd grade grammar teacherDo not confuse this book with Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation (also by Lynne Truss).

目からウロコが落ちました
全く同じ文が、コンマのあるなしで全然違う意味になってしまいます。本の見開き左右のページでその違いを比べています。とんでもない文になってしまったり、それを表すイラストがとても面白くて、英語を習い始めたばかりの人でも楽しめると思います。
