I had to change my review from 5 to 1 star. Not long after I received it, it cracked and keeps falling off my computer. This material is fragile and I wouldn't recommend it if you're planning on moving your computer around a lot. I'm looking for a more flexible material now. Boo.

I bought this case to set apart my work computer from the identical laptops of my co-workers. Some have turned their laptops into messes of stickers, but I didn't like the idea of the stickers curling and getting gummy residue in my backpack, and taking them off would be obnoxious when it's time to me to upgrade. With a case, I can keep my signature look throughout upgrades (as long as they issue me the same model).I got the shiny silver one, and it's even prettier in person! The surface is holographic and shimmers in sunlight. I've gotten a lot of compliments on it! The corners are already a little faded from the friction in my backpack, but for a $20 case, it's holding together really well.The case was easy to apply. I clipped on the bottom and top while the laptop was closed, then opened it to ensure all the tabs were secure. I haven't had any issues with it coming unlatched, even when my nails accidentally catch the case instead of the laptop itself when I'm trying to open it.It's definitely more of a decorative case than a protective one. While I assume the lid of my laptop is protected from scuffs caused by zippers and metal items in my backpack (my previous laptop ended up being stained by the color rubbing off a notebook!), this case would probably not protect it in the event of a drop.Overall I'm really pleased with it!

I purchased what I thought was the same case about two years ago. I have the old one next to this new one as I write the review. The new case is much better quality than the previous. This case feels rubberized (the old one was smooth plastic), the color is brighter, the rubber feet on the bottom are larger and a dense black rubber (the older one were thin, stick-on, white circles that actually included replacements, so obviously the manufacturer knew that they would come off almost immediately). The previous case bottom chipped and eventually broke, leaving sharp edges that cut into my wrists. (With this order, I also ordered a Mosiso case for my wife's computer and hers is the same thin plastic, paltry white plastic feet as the older case I am now unhappy with.) I did not know that these cases came in different quality, so if you order a case, I recommend this YMIX case. Make sure that it feels thick, sturdy, and rubberized on top and has the thick black rubber feet on the bottom. I'm leaving a bad review for Mosiso...much cheaper, low quality. Definitely going with YMIX in the future.

[UPDATE (1/30/2020):] Unfortunately, I had to change my review because the corner of my first case cracked after 10 months. Despite this crack, it lasted way longer than another case that I had bought from another seller. This is why I decided to buy a second case. I have been using it for 3 months now and it has already cracked on the corners in spite of careful handling and using a padded case on top.[ORIGINAL REVIEW:] I have been struggling to find a case for my old MacBook Pro 15" with CD-ROM (A1286, 2012). My Speck case lasted around 6 years of consistent mild use, but the company does not produce cases for my model anymore. I found a replacement on Amazon from a best-seller with excellent reviews, but the case cracked and chipped almost immediately and it was useless after two weeks (see review and pictures in my profile).I was hesitant to buy this case at first, but after three months of use I cannot be happier with my YMIX case. The product is easy to install and fits perfectly in my old MacBook. The material is sturdy, yet soft to the touch. In this regard, the previous case that I bought felt really rough and uncomfortable around the wrist area when typing, while the YMIX case is really nice and does not interfere with working on the computer.The design is also amazing and lets the Apple light shine through the case. I was a bit concerned that the design would get easily damaged since one can feel the texture of the print; however, it is still intact and vibrant.Based on my experience with this and other cases, I can strongly recommend this case for anyone looking for an extra protection for their old MacBook Pro 15" (A1286). After three months of use, it is still in great condition (it looks brand new), and does not have any chip, crack, nor scratch. I am really happy with the product's durability and design, and I will definitely buy from this seller again in the future if I need a new case.

My first case (black) came the wrong size. I could tell it was the 13" and would not fit my 15" because the envelope was about the size of my A1286.My second case (marble) came damaged. The driver tossed it on my cement stairs instead of leaving it on the carpeted veranda. And if that wasn't enough, marked the delivery handed to resident. Since it was the last one in stock, I had to get the Shiny Grey.My third case (Shiny Grey) is like sandpaper and when I look close, I can see a defect. Since it is studier that the marble and black, I'm just going overlook it and stick with it but I'm not pleased with my experience.My Fourth and final case is the Mysterious Smoke case. The finish is waterproof so water beads up. My male coworkers are making remarks about the glitter of the Shiny Grey so I gave it to my mother for her A1286 which has dark blemishes on the base to help her stop it from getting worse.

Love this case. I don't think it would save my macbook if I were to drop it, because the macbook is a pretty heavy laptop, but I didnt buy this case thinking that it would be bulletproof. I got the case just because I want to keep the macbook protected, when I put it on the table, ground or anywhere else I put it while using it. I think the case is perfect for that, plus is looks cute :)
