We bought this pencil sharpener for our kids who are in grade school. We've been using the hand sharpeners and they just haven't been cutting it, literally. So, it was time for an upgrade to a full electric sharpener.There are plenty of electric pencil sharpeners on the market, but I decided to go with the Office Pro because of the great reviews and also the portability of being battery powered.The sharpener itself does a great job at what it's supposed to do. The stainless steel helical blade does a great job and puts a great point on a variety of different pencil types. It has a great auto stop feature that will shut off the sharpener after the pencil is sharpened. To me this is a great feauture, so that little ones don't sit there and let the thing eat up pencils. The motor is powerful enough and not too loud. It has rubber feet on the bottom that keep the sharpener in place while in use. The reservoir is easy to empty, and the sharpener itself will auto shut off if the reservoir gets opened while in use, which is a nice safety feature.The best feauture in my opinion is that it is cordless. This was the biggest reason why I bought this model. It does require 4 AA batteries, which are included. I like the idea of the kids being able to use the sharpener at the table while doing their homework, and then it can be put up out of the way after use. The portability is nice.Build quality is great and has worked awesome so far. 5 stars

I am a dad, trying to buy a basic pencil sharpener that works. This one does, so far. I've sharpened only 4 pencils. But I can see that this sharpener is different from others I've tried. First of all, the sharpener is weighty and substantial, which means that it has enough weight to move the pencil through the sharpener and not the other way around. Secondly, the motor is far more powerful than your average sharpener. It doesn't wheeze just to get through a single sharpening. Your pencil is sharpened in just a few seconds. Third, I can tell by the fine shavings that the blades are sharp. Fourth, it doesn't eat your pencil like other sharpeners do. It works quickly and efficiently. Fifth, it doesn't oversharpen, which inevitably leads to broken pencil points and need for more sharpening, resulting in eating the pencil beyond its usefulness. Sixth, it has a modest footprint, about 3" x 2", so I don't mind keeping it on my desk.My sole quibble is that I wish it had a plug in option.But bottom line, the sharpener works well so far.Update (12/15/16): Unlike the advertisement on Amazon, my box does not contain a "Lifetime Warranty" decal. And nowhere on the box or in writing does it make mention of that. In fact, in small writing on the User's Manual it says: "Product life: 3000 times". This is concerning. I want the lifetime warranty that was advertised. OfficePro, please send me a lifetime warranty sticker.Update (12/15/16): Spoke to customer service at Amazon. Apparently, the "Lifetime Replacement Guarantee" is an Amazon offering, and not an OfficePro offering and that the decal on the box was placed there by Amazon for advertising purposes only. Amazon assured me that they are indeed bound by the Lifetime Replacement Guarantee and expedited shipping as advertised, even though the box does not reflect that.

As a teacher, sharpening is a frequent occurrence, so I needed something that was good quality, easy and safe to use. I found it!I love that there are no sharp edges, so tiny hands are safe. It's battery operated, so is portable with no cables to get tangled. It is much lighter than my previous one, yet does not move around when in use. In terms of battery usage it is lasting very well, I purchased it in June and have not had to change any of the 4xAA batteries at all. My last sharpener had a black container where the shavings dropped into, which meant having to guess how full it was, and carefully opening it, usually with some spillage, (especially if kids were opening it!), but the shavings of this sharpener are collected in a see-through container underneath, so you can see the fullness.Things don't last like they used to and I often feel I am replacing household products frequently, so it is reassuring to see they offer a Lifetime Replacement Guarantee, so any issues can be addresses and replaced. I am really happy with my purchase and would recommend this to friends and colleagues.

I tried 2 other battery pencil sharpeners from iPoint and Bostitch within 2 years. I returned the one by Bostitch because I felt it was low quality and the iPoint stopped working. Both of those had the razor blade for sharpening and the 4x AA batteries never seemed to last long in either model. I read reviews for about 15 to 20 other kinds on Amazon and even looked at the models from the big name brands. I found that a lot of the other ones were just not working well and did not want to pay a lot for disappointment.I took a chance on the OfficePro and so far have been pleased with its performance. My kids use a lot of colored pencils, and this sharpener does a fantastic job. It does come with some trial and error since there is only one type of point that it will sharpen to before it automatically stops. With the colored pencils, we just pull it out before it gets too sharp. It does produce a very fine point that looks very sharp.The one complaint that I would share with the manufacturer is that occasionally when sharpening a pencil, the helical blade will become dislodged and fall from its supports. I need to then open the sharpener and click the part back into place. It's a little annoying but for the price and the other positives of the OfficePro I can live with a little maintenance now and then.

We had a simpler electric sharpener before. It was like a manual small sharpener with a motor attached. When the tip broke it got stuck and hat do take the sharpener apart, etc... same as when you manually do it.With the helical blade this problem is gone!The only thing is that the kids have to be careful to check regularly that the pencil is already sharp, otherwise the machine is happy to consume the whole pencil :D

Great for sharpening all sorts of pencils including oil based (polychromo), watercolour, graphite and charcoal.The description and instruction manual indicate "not for wax based" pencils so I didn't attempt to sharpen this type. However my other pencils sharpened well (tested over 100 pencils with no breakage!). Some pencils had to be inserted for a second time in order to obtain a super sharp point but original sharpness is suitable for most.Pros:Stays securely in place when sharpening.Stops once pencil is sharp.Minimal loss of pencil when sharpening.Works on several different sizes and types of pencils.Easy to clean pencil shavings.Cons:Quite loud when sharpening.Not suitable for soft/wax coloured pencils.Need to reinsert pencil to obtain extra sharp point.At a price of under $20 I wanted to give it a 5* rating but the noise and inability to use for wax based coloured pencils drops it to 4*.

This pencil sharpener is just what I hoped for - I belong to a coloring group and several of us have purchased it because it is reasonably priced and works awesome. I have not cleaned it yet except to empty the bottom so can't comment on that. I love that it is battery operated so I can pack it with me to my coloring group meetings and use it anywhere.
