Stanley Kubrick Collection (Lolita / Dr. Strangelove / 2001: A Space Odyssey / A Clockwork Orange / Barry Lyndon / The Shining / Full Metal Jacket)

This is a great collection of 3 of Kubrick’s films. The picture for The Shining and Full Metal Jacket is only slightly better than regular Blu-ray. But 2001 is amazing! The resolution and HDR is astounding, especially for the space scenes. I’ve never seen it look better.

Every Stanley Kubrick movie I wanted in one set.

I have been waiting and waiting and waiting on this one. Yes, I know that everyone prefers the new box set that just came out this year, however, Stanley Kubrick probably would not have approved of the widescreen releases of his films, and also this set contains three films that the new set does not have. I'd rather have the bulk of Kubrick's work, and not just a sampling of it.Everyone complained about this set when it was released to the public in 1999, apparently because most of the audio tracks were mono and not in 5.1 surround. From what I have read, Kubrick WANTED a mono sound mix - and as far as the whole aspect ratio controversy, THAT is how he wanted his films to be viewed in the first place, because that is the way that they were shot! Sure, this set skimps on EYES WIDE SHUT. However, as much as that film intrigued me, it is not what I would call his best. Some may find it essential to this set, but I could go back and forth on that one. I can always go back and purchase it seperately.As it stands, I am very happy with this set and would recommend it!

This boxset is really well made, with 3 excellent Kubrick films included on 4K/UHD media and Blu-ray media with plenty of extras included. This purchase replaced my HD-DVDs of these films.

Nearly an hour into 2001, just after the Discovery 1 spacecraft appears for the first time, video starts glitching. It starts clearing up visually during the following jogging scene, but then gets choppy, stuttering to a brief pause every few seconds. Eventually, the audio goes out until I press pause and resume. I'm missing dialogue. Then it starts stuttering again. The disc is totally unwatchable. The return window is well beyond closed, which is unfortunate, but was I really supposed to watch each of these movies within a month to make sure it's not a trash disc?

This is the cheaper Stanley Kubrick collection but comes with the most movies. The only thing its missing is Paths of glory and maybe eyes wide shut which i haven't seen. Full metal jacket is a great war film and the best i've seen of Vietnam. The shinning is written by Steven king. Barry Lydon is a bit long and is about someones life. A clockwork orange is a cult classic. 2001 space odyasy can be edited down to an hour but its really interesting because of the way it was filmed. Stanley Kubrick Died 666 days before Jan 1, 01 so that is really strange. Dr.Stranglove is a classic. And I loved Lolita. Stanley is one of the best directors. Buy this.

These films have never looked better. The transfers and color grading are an incredible upgrade from the Standard Blu Ray release. Especially 2001, which is still such a visually pleasing film. If you don’t own these films these are the versions to splurge on, but even if you do, this is a rare case where I’d tell someone to upgrade a 1080p Blu Ray for UHD, it’s a worthy splurge.

Excellent collection of films from Kubrick, but unfortunately the cover for 2001: A Space Odyssey did not receive a redesign to match the other films in the set. It also would have been nice to have had more effort into the packaging with something more for collectors than just the films alone.Not a big deal to be completely honest, but it's a minor lacking detail that could have elevated this set to 5 stars.
