Sturdy, rugged, and streamlined
This music stand is exactly what we were looking for. It packs up nicely and is very sturdy. We have 4 mic stands and it only fits on 2 of them, so be aware that if you are using a boom stand, you will need to attach it to the lower vertical part and it needs to be a little thick for the thumb screw to tighten down. Stays in place well, holds a 1" think notebook with ease.

Durable, Stable and Affordable
I bought the MS-303 for use with my Otterboxed iPad. Before, I used the iKlip which required me to uncase the iPad from the Otterbox, which is not a quick process. Then, in the iKlip, the iPad was totally unprotected. The MS-303 is a great solution to all those wanting to use an iPad for music or public speaking without having an additional music stand. The MS-303 helps reduce your stage footprint. I docked it one star because some of the welding is sloppy, typical of a Chinese manufacturing job, and I'm hoping that just because the welding looks ugly, it won't cause any issues down the road. Nothing in the construction makes me believe that it will be; the unit is otherwise rock-solid.I want to address those who say the MS-303 doesn't fit on their mic stands. True, the MC-303 doesn't fit the outer pole of a mic stand, but it does fit the telescoping inner pole on every single mic stand I've tried it with. All one needs to do is raise the inner pole, which has a smaller diameter, and the MS-303 fits perfectly. Also, if one feels that this unit causes the mic stand to become "tippy," it will work best with a heavier mic stand and needs to be placed out over one of the legs (if using a tripod style mic stand).

Great product
Works great. Easy to install/take down. I used this for a gig on a slow-moving train and nothing toppled over. Worked great!

The updated clamp is not an improvement
I bought one of these 6 years ago....different style of clamp back then. The major issue with it originally was the music plate where your put you tablet or music sheets was tilted. I fixed that by putting a small shim in the clamp to tilt the clamp and make the unit sit horizontally. This has generally worked fine. I recently noticed that there is a new version with a newly designed clamp, so I wanted to check it out. I originally thought it would be a bit better. And initially it seemed to be OK when I opened the box. But I still needed to add a shim - However, the real issue is that the new clamp is pretty darn flimsy and the clamp would not center correctly. AND the plate still tilted. Overall, this seemed to be a definite downgrade of the original unit.I gave the newer unit a fair trial....I really spent a long time to try to get this newer unit to work properly. But it tended to be quite tilted and the clamp did not stay tight. Overall, I was very disappointed. I really wanted to like this but it is not as good as my old stand.Overall, this type of unit is very useful. I used my old unit for years to put my IPad on it at gigs and never had a problem. The older unit is sturdy and it has never fallen or resulted in a issue at a gig. I leave the mic stand clamp on the mic stand permanently, and just slide the music plate tube into the pole mounted clamp and tighten it on at shows. The new unit is not any better, it is - in fact - quite a bit less well-designed. I would worry about it slipping and my IPad falling. The tilt of the new unit is much worse and I found no easy "fix" for this, unlike the older unit. So, I am returning this unit.....it really is not gonna work for me.

Heavy.
It is fine. I had intended using it on a light weight stand that I use when I need portability. I thought I would consolidate two stands into one for convenience. That didn't work with it. First of all it is heavy and pulled the light weight mic stand over. The light weight stand also has a little narrower tubing and I couldn't get it to clamp tight enough to sit level. It sagged. When I put it on a bigger, beefier and heavier stand but that is less portable it works better. But that defeated the purpose that I bought it for. I'll keep it though. I can still use it, just not for what I wanted to when I bought it.

Broke
This product wouldn't fit my mic stand. When trying to tighten the bolt, the plastic handle broke off, then I tried to attach it to a thicker part of my stand, when a weld point broke. Also, when trying to change the screws to change the side the stand mounted on, the screws started stripping. Stand seemed solid, but it broke apart on me. Probably would have been different had my mic stand been a different size. Amazon seems cool about the refund. We'll find out when I get my $$ back!
