Wonderful educational globe, but need to be updated
Amazing toy, my 4 years old son loves exploring countries, culture and animals. It was a wonderful Christmas gift !He loves the mysteries, the app can be used without the globe as well. But a few things that should be updated.First of all, Eritrea is not on the Globe. This country is independent since 1991 and can be found on every globe. It is rich in culture and cuisine. And the next thing that should be updated is, that the current King of the UK is King Charles. The app still says that Queen Elizabeth is the Queen.

Must buy! Easy to use, promotes technology, culture, history , literacy and so much more!
Name of Product: Shifu OrbootAge Recommendation: 4+Function: We found the product easy to set up, all we had to do was open the box and download the app. A big positive was not having to add any batteries and then having to replace them regularly. This meant as long as the tablet was charged the product was always ready to go, which is what you want it to do. Its very engaging and exciting with lots to learn and do, we especially loved the quizzes as it meant children weren’t just passively using the product, they were being challenged and asked questions about what they had learnt. I also love the booklet it comes with as it provides a simple guide with simple steps and pictures to follow.Design: The design is simple, colourful, bright and its full of surprises. It looks like a regular globe, initially I thought the globe should have additional features and buttons etc however, now having used the product for a few weeks in my own classroom and across my entire phase ( 3 classes) and during EYFS (Preschool) Hub meetings I have changed my mind. Having a simple design means we can use it like a regular globe without the app. It also means we don’t have to charge the product, replace any batteries, worry something will break or constantly have to show children what each button or feature does. It’s less likely to get damaged or broken meaning its long wearing which is needed for children. The passport and stickers also helps children identify names and flags of countries.App: The app had an easy to use interface, it was easy to download and just go. Children were also able to quickly learn how to use the product and the app together. The age recommendation is accurate as the classes I used it with were ages 4-5. I liked that the children didn’t have to read the information but it was read to them, this makes the product appeal to different abilities and needs. Those who can read are able to but it also supports learners who cannot read. Children found the 3-D images amazing and were in complete awe, they thought it was magic! I liked how you had to enter name/age which I think meant it tailored it to the age range and even ability range. It was exciting for children to complete different quests and be awarded coins and jewels, the app meant I could have personalised users for all the children in the class meaning each child had a personalised learning experience to their own needs and abilities.Curriculum specific: I found that the globe itself and its features and functions fit in perfectly with the U.K EYFS curriculum, and the new curriculum which will be implemented across all schools in England, Wales and Scotland in September 2020. It promotes S.T.E.M from a very young age, it links into ICT, communities, the world, history, all of which are key parts of the EYFS curriculum in the U.K. as the importance of S.T.E.M is developing across all school ages I feel this product will not only work in EYFS classrooms (preschool) but also all primary classrooms too.Home or schools it’s a must buy!

This is OK if you are struggling for ideas
First off the bat, this thing doesn't work well on the Kids fire tablet. The camera is not good enough and it won't recognise the patterns, ie it doesn't work.I have tried it on several phones and it works OK but the text is quite hard to read and cannot be adjusted for some inexplicable reason. You cannot change the aspect to vertical either which is a big oversight in my opinion. The AR effect is decent enough but it's definitely jittery and scanning the globe is fairly reliable with a good camera. It hasn't held my 5 year olds interest for very long if I'm honest probably because he prefers to use the tablet and the phone is awkward for him to hold without covering the camera lens with his finger. If you have an Ipad you will likely get the best experience with this or any other high quality tablet. If you have a cheap tablet or a phone expect average to poor results.
