Compatible with Google Fi, works out of the box.

Seems well built, comes with good mounting hardware, and out of the box compatible with my Google Fi data SIM. The included PoE injector seems well made, and is appropriately designed for the included length of Ethernet cable. The coverage and bandwidth is as good as with my Pixel 8a, which is really good!It arrived with up-to-date firmware.Crucially, although I'm sure their app is helpful for people who don't have other tools for signal strength and tower selection, you do NOT need to use the app to configure it to run. With Google Fi just make sure to follow the instructions that come with your data SIM (you need to go to their website to activate the SIM with your account).

Exactly What I Wanted

I don’t understand anything that isn’t a 5 star review. Solid quality, solid instructions, and I was up and running as a secondary WAN in less than 5 minutes. My experience was plug and play with an under-utilized T-Mobile SIM and a Unifi UDM-Pro. Now I have always on, seamless failover that will pay for itself in only 3 months. Extremely happy and impressed.

Works Very Well as a Backup Cellular Option

I have a Ubiquiti UDM and upgraded my Netgear LM1200 4G modem to this 5G modem as a replacement WAN2 secondary Internet connection. I am running the modem on a Google Fi data-only SIM, just like a couple of others have mentioned. Mine also worked OOTB with no configuration whatsoever (manual / DHCPv4). My WAN2 speeds immediately more than doubled, and the latency dropped, as well. I'm very pleased with the modem thus far.The only thing to note, and why I'm giving this 4 stars, is that the POE Ethernet cable is physically part of the bottom of the modem, which connects via 2 screws to the rest of the unit. If anything happens to the flat Ethernet cable, you'll need to get a replacement cable or separate the Ethernet cable from the bottom piece, and then run your own cable, likely applying silicone afterwards in the gaps. Not a huge deal, but they could have easily done something more mainstream, which would allow for a standard Ethernet cable to be used and still keep water out. Again, this was also pointed out by others.

Great 5G modem for home internet

The media could not be loaded. I purchased the ZTE 5G Cellular modem as a secondary modem for my Ubiquiti home network. It works seamlessly with a 5G T-Mobile SIM card, and is basically plug-and-play.It includes a PoE injector to provide power and connectivity to your network.I purchased the modem for $118 and it is a great value for the price. Compared to less expensive 4G LTE modems, the 5G speeds are significantly better and the build quality of this unit is very good.I would definitely recommend this modem for home network enthusiasts or for those who don’t have access to high speed cable or fiber internet.

Great 5G Modem

Very easy to setup. Gets 5G speeds from T-Mobile. No need to program. Mine worked right out of the box once I inserted the sim card.Need to know-You will beed a security torx T-10 bit to tighten the service cover. If you do need to get into programming the password is on the back of the unit.

Can't handle the heat of outdoors

Ran fine with a Google Fi data only sim for the first few months outside but as soon as it warmed up it went offline. Web interface would just 404. After bringing it inside and letting it cool down I got to the web interface and had to put the sim in and out a few times to get it online again. Figured maybe the sim got shook out of it?Put it back outside and all was online for about 30 minutes before it went back to acting like it didn't have a sim card in it. Pull it back in and it will not recognize the sim is present now. This is mild heat IMO low mid 90's in central Texas.

Disappointed that it only uses Hotspot Data

The product description and customer reviews were not clear about how this device works. I used an option that seemed popular here, a Sim card from Mint Mobile for a voice plan with unlimited data (eventually throttled) and 10GB Hotspot data. The device description shows ZTE, but the package says Telus and all the documentation show that, but the hardware is indeed ZTE, it was not clear that this was a Telus product to be sold for non-Telus customers. Not serious, but should be explained by the seller.Turns out, this device seems to only access Hotspot data (some people say tethered data, which I assume is the same thing?). So, even though I had hoped to have access to the rest of the cell data plan with throttling, I will have only the 10GB data and will experience a hard limit. Playing with it and doing basic browsing used of 5GB is a day, so that's no good for anything but basic news reading. It won't last a month even with low-bandwidth pages. As far as the radio quality, I confirmed that my 5G phone does have better signal and higher speed from the ground than this modem does mounted 10 feet off the ground. That, too, is disappointing, but I can live with that. It showed only slight improvement by rotating the unit, a couple dB.The cell phone bluetooth app that they want you to use for setup was not able to do much. It showed an option for setup, but would not work. Only usable for getting the signal strength, at least for me.My data rate maxed at about 20Mbps. Good enough for what I need for browsing, but not nearly as fast as the 5G phone. I am 7 miles from my tower, so I have to live with that as a remote user.I tried all the fast APN changes, didn't do much for me.I connect the modem to a separate WiFi router and it does work for what it is. I can access the modem setup page through the router with no problem. As others have noted, that setup page is very hard to use and when things are changed, it resets itself and takes a while to respond again. It doesn't say it is going down when it does, it just locks up your browser page.I didn't have a problem with the bottom cover/cable arrangement. I mounted it out of direct sunlight based on a previous review regarding heat sensitivity. It worked fine well below freezing temperatures. For me, I still get a small advantage to having poor internet that I can install and leave there, but for actually getting and using bandwidth, I seem to have been better off just using my cell phone as a hotspot and not bought this device.I was surprised that I could send and receive SMS texts from the units setup page. Not super useful, but I will take anything I can get. While I am away, I can sent it a text and get a confirmation on my phone, this confirms that the modem is still running. It would do me and other users a great service if there was a better description of the limitations from the seller. It would be a greater service if someone could describe how to fix the limitations in being able to use cell data and not just Hotspot data. Also, if someone knows of a T-Mobile/reseller plan that provides more data that works with this, let us know. You know, less than the cost of T-Mobile $50 a month home service plan.If I get any fixes or improvements, I will update the review.

Does the TELUS work in the USA?

I dislike the fact that it seems to need a sims card and WAN cables which did not come with the Telus, when I bought it. If it does not work, I have no other choice but to return it.
