The IP rating on this solar panel is only IP44 meaning it can withstand water splashing, but is not waterproof or designed to be installed in direct exposure to rain, snow, or hail. I don't know how you would install a solar panel with high visibility to the sun but not exposed to direct rain or snow unless you installed it inside a glass box? Maybe they're assuming the plastic case needs to be used help protect the panel from water. I placed the solar panel on the roof of my storage shed with no protection from the rain or elements.The open circuit voltage was almost 10V measured in the middle of the day so I expect it to charge the 6V rating on my solar light battery without issues. Another reviewer pointed out that the solar panel doesn't have a blocking diode installed so you might need to pay attention to how you're connecting the panel to a battery. In most cases if you're connecting to a MPPT controller or other device they already protect against reverse current battery drain so this is normal on most small dedicated solar panels. I have four other small dedicated solar panels for solar lights and none of them came with blocking diodes so that is fairly common practice with small dedicated panels.

Nice compact solar panel with armored cables and steel mounting bracket. The wires are soldered to the alligator clips, a plus compared to some others that are just crimped. Also, the wiring is protected from pulling out of the panels by a wire loop in the case, another often overlooked element of a good design.Despite the nice design and strong case, it’s lacking a blocking diode which is critical to ensuring your battery doesn’t drain thru the solar panel at night when there is no sun. For me it’s an easy fix to solder one in but buyer be advised about this shortcoming.I checked the voltage on a sunny day and got 9.2V open circuit, which will be fine once I install a blocking diode, it should be around 8-8.5, sufficient to charge a 6V battery since you typically need a couple volts higher to drive to charge. It’s a nice compact unit and fine for me but if you’re not comfortable soldering, then I would look around for one that states it comes with a diode and with sufficient voltage to ensure it will charge.

This solar panel assumes the feeder is out in the sunshine. Since that is not a great place for a feeder it would be nice if the solar panel had more flexibility in the mounting options and a longer power cord so it could be mounted in a nearby tree and in a place that has a lot of sun

I ordered 2 of these panels to act as a solar charger to a 12v battery, the battery powers a water pump that I use to irrigate my orchard. It is a very well made, small and compact panel. I will be ordering more of these for other small power needs projects

I ordered this solar panel to improve the light sensor function for my outdoor flood lights. In my experience, small solar panels outperform dedicated photocells and are more cost-effective to replace. While I don't usually expect high power output from budget solar panels, it's not a priority for my setup. Surprisingly, this panel is actually very efficient.I haven't tested its performance on a hunting feeder (because I don't own one), but I mounted it under the rain gutter for mentioned purpose, using the included metal bracket. The panel itself is made of plastic, so I'm not sure how it will hold up in direct sunlight here in Southern California. However, the quality overall is good, and I'm impressed with the metal cable sleeve. The alligator clamps for the connector are a bit unusual but appreciated for testing purposes.Overall, I'm satisfied with this solar panel's performance and quality. Five stars from me. I've taken a few photos, and I hope it helps to make a decision."

Versatile little solar panel. Cord ends in small alligator clips allowing you to connect just about anything. Unfortunately my reader keeps overheating in the 110f weather so Icant give exact energy readings

One of my security camera solar panel stopped charging, so I replaced it with this solar panel and has been working fine ever since. Not sure about the IP44 waterproof rating, though! That indicates light rain, or splashing, not torrential rains we have here and there. Its a solar panel, it needs to have full exposure, not sure why it isn't rated higher. The panel is well made, solid bracket/frame, and soldered clips. I guess after a few good storms, I'll have to see how it holds up.
