Credit Card-Size Pocket Magnifier with LED Light 1.5x & 4x - Tough Polycarbonate Lens

I was drawn to this by its thin size so could be put into a backpack without taking up too much space. But sadly I don't think I did my homework very well. Other reviewers have commented that the main part of the magnifier doesn't seem to magnify much if at all. I found that for some text it added a shade of clarity, but not enough to have made this a worthwhile purchase. The smaller 4x part magnifies really well, but it's so focused that you can basically make out just a few characters at a time so its of very limited value.Also, as others have noted, the light seems particularly ineffective. I think the problem is that although part of the LED points downwards, the majority of the light shines through from the edge of the lens, so it tends to act a bit like fiber-optics where lots of light bounces around inside the lens but hardly any of it escapes, so what you are trying to magnify just gets washed with a low glow that doesn't eventually help, It does make the orange frame light up spectacularly, though!All in all this is quite disappointing and has ended up in a drawer probably never to be used again. I'd keep looking if I were you

The magnification on this is quite poor and was not strong enough for my dad to get any use out of it. He found he had to hold it too far away from what he was trying to read and his hand is not too steady at the best of times. The little circle in the top right was good, but too small. If the entire glass was like that, it would have been useful.The light is also quite weak. For the money, I do not think this product offers good value. It was therefore returned. Good idea, just not well executed, or at least not as well as it could have been (stronger magnification and better LED)

I was extreemly disapointed with this device and canot recomend it to anyone. It is described as "1.5 x Magnification main lens with 4x magnification sub-lens."The main lens gave no magnificatio whatoever and appeared to be a a piece of plain plastic with no sign of of any len. the sub lens was present and did work but was very small so would only a small area.The LED light did work but was not of much with no main lens.I Found the "Handy Pocket Credit Card Size Magnifying Card- Slim Reading Lens x 5"much more usefull and they come at £3.19 for 5 ( the extras are usefull as they are small enough to easily get lost)
