The Office - Complete Series One & Two and The Christmas Specials [2001] [DVD]

Really happy. Not as the dvd shown, both series 1 and 2 as well as the Christmas specials all on separate discs but not really an issue. The whole family love watching these and they are an Xmas gift for my son. Shall enjoy watching them. Arrived promptly and well packaged.

When "The Office" first aired I was only in my teens and it passed me by. In the years that followed when I stumbled upon repeats I never gave them a proper chance, partly because I felt I had missed the bus, and also to a large extent because its ability to prick my cringe-reflex was too much to handle. However, when "Extras" came along, and I had the chance to experience the genius of Merchant and Gervais, I began to feel obliged to give "The Office" another try. I only recently got round to doing just that, opting to take a chance on the boxset and having watched both seasons and Christmas specials over the course of two days I'm definitely a belated convert.The similarities between "Extras" and "The Office" aren't difficult to spot, and there really isn't any reason I can see why a fan of one wouldn't enjoy the other just as much. I'm only left wondering why I missed out on it for so long. The cast is perfectly assembled, and it's probably fair to say, 10 years on and with the series having been remade and revamped dozens of times in a multitude of countries, that this is one of the best written and most original TV show in TV history (not trying to be hyperbolic I think it's justified). All the central characters are brilliantly conceived and perfectly played. I'm not surprised that it's not some people's cup of tea, seeing as it isn't exactly a standard-issue sitcom (with the easily disliked central character, absence of laugh track and the degree to which it embraces its dull setting), nevertheless having remedied my ignorance of it I couldn't recommend it more. The DVDs have quite a few special features, with the usual behind the scenes, commentaries and outtakes, all of which are well worth watching. All in all a great series and boxset, definitely a 5 star product, and at less than £10 you can't go wrong.

I bought this DVD without seeing a single episode of The Office (this version, or the US one). I heard it was funny, and the pricing was good, so I bought it.Set with my wife to see the first episode. Both of us were disappointed, and we almost didn't laugh the entire episode.Next day I saw episode 2, and suddenly I saw the light! I saw another episode, and made my wife watch these two episodes with me. That's it, now she is a fan, and I have to convince her that it's too late to see another episode...Too bad it lasted for only two seasons + specials.I think that the main thing that I like about it, is that the characters are real. Some are nice, some are nasty, and some make you feel pity for them. When you feel attached to the characters, it makes it easier to like the show, even in some of the more serious parts of the show (there are some).

Monkey! Wow. This mockumentry is excellent. The comedy on offer here is mostly subtle but it is still really funny. Ricky Gervais acts perfectly as David Brent. He really shows off his acting skills, particularily at the end of Series 2 and in the Christmas specials. The supporting characters are also really funny. Tim is excellent because his facial expressions say a lot without him even talking!!! Gareth is just a complete idiot and makes a fool of himself on a regular basis(Tim helps to make him look like a fool, though). And Dawn. She's not really that funny but the love story between her and Tim is fun and quite traditional. David Brent is one of the best characters to come from the TV screen. he thinks he is really funny but he's not. And you feel sorry for him but at the same time you find him kinda annoying.... a good contrast. But overall I think he is a great character and the show is awesome!!!

I don't think this show completely passed anyone by but I must admit that I only ever saw maybe one or two episodes when it was first aired.Some fifteen years later and I finally got round to watching this box set and I can see what all the fuss was about.As a concept it sound dull, a "mockumentary" set in an admin office, not much to entice many there but if you haven't seen it then give it a go, the characters are excellent and it isn't long before you forget they are all acting and you actually get drawn in to the excruciatingly embarrassing situations and conversations that unfold.Also included is the two part Christmas special and some hilarious bonus materials which tie it all up nicely.

Pleased with my purchase, although I have a feeling it might be second hand due to the slight wear on the box and a scratch on disc one.The product is in working order and the wear on the box is minimal, hence the four star rating. It would have received 5 stars if it had been in slightly better condition.This boxed set contains the complete "Office" collection and as I am probably one of the few people to have never seen an episode I am enjoying the whole experience.Quite satisfied.

I just recently purchased the office, I never before had watched a single episode until I watched Extras which was hilarious. Having read other reviews, about it being too cringy, irritating and David Brent being a hated character, I have to disagree, I find it easy to watch and oh soo funny. I liked David Brent from episode one. Tho I like Ricky Gervais, and his character reminds me of him.Overall this is an excellent comedy/documentary, it is short in my opinion only 12 episodes + 2 christmas specials but hilarious all the same.

Il cofanetto contiene le 2 stagioni della serie e i relativi contenuti speciali con i commenti dei registi e degli attori principali, e lo speciale di Natale con relativi contenuti extra. Serie, ambientata in un 'normalissimo' ufficio amministrativo, che mette in scena situazioni al limite dell'assurdo e dell'imbarazzo. Consigliata vivamente, divertente e, ormai, un cult immortale!P.S.: Attenzione! Il cofanetto è solo in lingua inglese, così come i sottotitoli.

Después de comprarlo porque en los comentarios decían que venia subtitulado al español resulta que no es así.comprado para nada....

Hilarant, c'est pour moi la meilleure série anglaise. Attention, il n'y a pas de sous-titres en français, il faut donc un bon niveau d'anglais car l'accent 'east London' est parfois difficile à comprendre. Les sous-titres en anglais aident quand même beaucoup.Cette série est à mourir de rire pour qui aime l'humour anglais. Pas de comparaison avec le remake américain qui était bien lourd...A voir !

Das ist Englischer Humor vom feinsten. Immer wieder fühlt man sich peinlich berührt vom Auftreten des möchtegern-Superchef's David Brent. Der Humor ist teils subtil, teils gemein, und teils einfach zum schreien komisch!Aber nicht nur die Comedy ist toll an dieser Serie - bei dem Box-Set bekommt man noch die Xmas-specials (die das ganze zum Abschluß bringen) worin auch sehr klever und charmant die kleine Liebesgeschichte der Serie ein wirklich bewegendes Ende findet... aber auf jeden fall die gesamten Staffel 1 & 2 vorher gucken!Neben Ricky Gervais (David Brent) macht sich auch Martin Freeman (Tim Canterbury), den man aus Filmen wie "Love Actually" oder der Neuverfilmung von "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" kennt, sehr gut in der Serie. Seine schüchterne, unsichere, aber dennoch sarkastische Art projeziert oftmals die Vernunft des Betrachters mitten ins Büro :)Auch Mackenzie Crook (Gareth Keenan) bringt als ober-Schleimer und genereller Typ-dem-man-am-liebsten-eine-klatschen-würde eine unersetzbare Performance!Auf jedenfall ein Muß für Comedyfans und bei knapp 30 EUR für die gesamte UK-Import Staffel ein echtes Schnäppchen!
