Perfect for starting out
I recently got back into scale miniatures. I build 1:35 scale tanks and have just taken the delve into Warhammer. Shifting over from tanks, I didn’t have many bright colours. This box has stocked me up nicely on some key colours. The paints are of a good quality and I’m a big fan of the dropper style bottle. I’ve airbrushed and hand painted with a number of them and find they mix well. If I was to be picky I would say one or two of the colours don’t have as good a coverage as the citadel range but for the price, excellent and two thin coats works great for most. The only thing I wasn’t to fond of was the gun metal metallic paint. The reflective particles were a little bit two large for adding a dry brush silver effect. Otherwise not a bad colour.Great gift, good for a budget stock up of paints.

Almost all great paints
This is a fantastic set, the paints beat the citadel options hands down. The pigments are very strong, and thin beautifully. The only paint that lets it down is the gold which is extremely thin, so much so that it takes three or more coats.

Perfect for miniatures
Bought as a basic colour set for my 40k miniatures. Lovely prime colours set, as well as a good bright orange and two good greens. There are also the must have silver and gold.Great basic set.Even happier as I got it at a discount price because there was a small rip on the box, which doesn't affect the paint set at all.Superb value.

Great set for the price but not perfect
Here's the main points quickly:Great set for the price (I paid £29.95);Wide range of colours that give a good range depending on how you mix however;Yes you need to buy another black as it finishes glossy;Yes you need to buy more blues (impossible to mix with what you have since you need different blue pigments)Long story short, it's a good set and worth getting (assuming it's still under £30) as it'll be hard finding a similar set at the same price. I'm new to painting miniatures, and these have proven very helpful in learning all the ins and outs. So far the paints haven't limited my learning and I'm growing with them. Well worth it in my opinion.

Great for beginners
I recently started painting miniatures and these paints have been great!Cannot compare to others as I have not tried. But certainly for a beginner like me, paint seem very good.My only advice to fellow beginners, would be, do you need a spray can of primer paint. And also, if you want to keep those pretty miniature is looking like they do once you finish painting them, you will need varnish two.I recently bought a satin varnish, by army painter. I’ve yet to use it, but hopefully it does the job.

Great for miniature painting
These paints are a recommended go-to brand for painting tabletop fantasy miniatures. Good coverage, even consistency and a good range of colours in this starter set. Extra colours from this brand can be purchased separately. Needs to be given a good shake to mix the pigments before each use. Stainless steel paint balls are recommended to use with these paints (sold separately).

Excellent paints, highly recommend
I've bought individual Vallejo paints before and never had an issue with them. I decided to splash out and go with this set as many of my old Games Workshop/Citadel paints were becoming hard to work with due to age - they had been re-diluted too often. These are excellent - the bottle design makes it very easy to get the amount of paint you want without having to leave a pot open - you just drip out a little bit at a time. I strongly recommend creating or buying a "wet palette" for it to prevent your paint blobs drying whilst you use them and to make mixing easier. It also means you're never leaving a pot open to the air for long, so they last much much longer without starting to thicken up.You might think 16 paints is a bit limiting, but they include all the colours needed to mix pretty much any colour you will ever need, and if there's a particulr colour you find you keep having to mix it's easy enough to find the individuals from the wider range. One tip is to make sure to give them a really good shake before each use as they will seperate if left over time, and you might get a blob of just medium/just pigment if you don't.My only gripe would be that the flesh paint in it is a very yellow colour - not the "traditional" caucasion flesh tone you might expect. 72.099 Cadmium Skin is a much better "normal" skin tone than the Bronze Fleshtone included in this pack. If you mix equal parts bone and flesh with a little red from this set you get a better skin colour.
