Q: It's doesn't state how the moisture is measured?

Dear customer, Please insert the WH51 into the soil (not hard soil) until the whole black probe is totally into the soil. The moisture data of soil is measured by the sensor probe.

Q: i need to monitor the moisture content of 12 plants in 10 gallon indoor pots what would I order? " the gateway says it only supports 8

I have tried 4 or 5 brands over the years, these work the best. Adding them to the gateway is not very straight forward though and they lose the friendly name you give them regularly. I had to actually write on the sensors with a sharpie of their assigned location, so I could remember each season, rather than starting over with a full reset each season. They also stay connected at a decent distance, which most other brands don't do.

Q: do you leave it in the ground or just insert it to get a reading

I do not leave it in the ground. I insert into the ground as required, take the reading and remove from the ground immediately

Q: How many WH51 sensors can the WH0291 monitor support? I think it's a 1 to 1 relationship?

The picture is of the base station that I have personally six sensors on currently, but I also have the monitor and the monitor only works with one sensor
