Kelly's clear instructions will guide you through the process even if you've never made ANY kind of quilt before, with manageable "mini quilt" projects that are the perfect size for trying out new techniques with low risk of burnout or frustration. I had so much fun with this project; it was like being back in elementary school art class again. I'm looking forward to making a few of the other mini quilt projects in the book, but I'm also excited about incorporating Kelly's scrappy improv technique into my other quilt projects!

The truth is, I’m not much of an improv sewist! This book proves, however, that *anyone* can sew improv and provides a framework to do just that. With Kelly’s technique, you sew large improv pieces and then cut them down to use in a regular pattern. It’s the best of both worlds for quilters, like me, who are hesitant to delve into improv.The projects in this book require sewing simple, bold shapes. With big swaths of scrappy improv, either in the foreground or in the background, these designs come to life, creating something that’s one of a kind.

For anyone looking for projects that use some 'crumb quilting' this is modern, practical, and a great way to try out some scrap artistry. I found several projects that I hope to make this year. I found this to be a beautiful book.
