I'm a Sucker for a SERIOUS SANDLER movie
His dramatic roles always impress me. I really enjoyed Adam Sandler in "Punch Drunk Love" and "Meyorowitz Stories" this character is equal parts frustrating, endearing, and infuriating. Shout out to the entire cast for a memorable performance. Start to finish, I loved it.

Adam Sandler was the best part
So to start off based off of the clips and trailers I seen I thought this was going to be about rare gem that everyone wanted but it was about a guy that owns a jewelry store that has a gambling problem. I think Adam Sandler did a fantastic job. However everything else was super confusing and chaotic. I actually had to turn it off in the middle of the movie because the constant nonstop yelling was starting to really bother me and I watch a lot of gangster movies. The opening of the movie was so weird and beyond annoying I was about to stop watching. The movie opens where you are looking at the insides of someone's colon (gross!) and it has blaring 80s type music for over 10 minutes that was louder than the dialogue and I had to put the subtitles on to know what they were saying. To be honest there was barely any kind of storyline that made much sense. It was a movie you just watched with your brain turned off. The ending was fitting though and did shock me just a little bit.Overall my store is mainly because I do think Adam did a great job and he totally deserved the awards he got. Unfortunately the movie in itself sucked big time. You can have a good dramatic movie without the constant yelling to the point that people in the movie even asked "can you stop your yelling and calm down?"

A highly unpleasant movie
I was fooled by Rotten Tomatoes, which had a 92% critic rating. I usually agree with the critic scores more than audience scores, but not in this case.Pros: Well-filmed, weird soundtrack adds to disconnected feelingCons: The entire situation and every character are simply unpleasant. You feel like taking a shower after this movie. Sandler does a good job at playing a complete a$$hole, but I just don't get it. Why would anybody care about such a character? Maybe a$$hole gamblers? This extends to every character - none of them even act like real people. Further, how does such a loser gambler become apparently rich? (nice house, nice booty apartment, etc.). Who cares about rich basketball stars, rappers, etc. who, according to this movie, buy expensive stuff just for the bragging rights (although I suppose that could extend to any filthy rich people). What's with the supposedly highly attractive girlfriend, played by someone who really isn't? Why does Sandler's family member have him physically assaulted and generally threatened over money owed? Why does Sandler put another family member in a position of owing a huge amount of money? We can all (or most of us) be thankful we don't have families like this. I could go on, but we had to watch an episode of Schitt's Creek to wash the bad taste out of our mouths.
