Beautiful and captivating
I’ve gifted this book to couple of people who were interested in Persian food and all of them loved it. It’s a combination of the history, culture, people and food. Love it.

Great Cookbook, easy to follow
I have never really cooked Persian food before, but this cookbook is easy to follow and makes a lot of sense. I recommend that you familiarize yourself with the various ingredients first, and also most of these recipes need a food processor so you should pick one up prior to purchase.

Four Stars as E-Book; Five Stars in Hard Cover
A book of this quality and of this usefulness should be purchased in hard cover. I use less expensive e-book versions to check out new cookbooks before I make a hard-copy buy. I quickly ordered the additional hard copy.These are not 'copy cat' recipes. They are at once fundamental and 'new'. Some on-line shopping will be required to get a few of the specialized herbs and spices but if you like rice, lamb, fish, poultry and a whole lot of Mediterranean vegetables this book will get a lot of use in your kitchen. These recipes bring back memories of my learning about Middle Eastern cuisine, including Turkish, Armenian, Kurdish, Syrian and Lebanese cuisine. They work to expand my repertoire from Claudia Roden's wonderful books on Middle Eastern cookery..Forget about those reviews that say this is 'just for the Travel notes.' Those notesare interesting and they do attest to the honesty and the authenticity of the recipes. Some of these recipes brought back to me the times I first saw flexible pita bread and carefully trimmed herbs being used to scoop up something--a braised meat dish; the complex bean mix offered by another recipe here. Meat-stuffed cabbage rolls; authentic soups'; the Persian mix of 'sour fruits' with meats and vegetables. I advocated for Claudia Roden: this book is truly of that importance. The honesty and the 'love of cuisine' shine through page after page and recipe after recipe. Being able to find books like this is a large part of what has earned me the cooking enthusiast badge from Amazon.

Great recipes
I am really enjoying this cookbook. I bought it because one of my very good friend's family is from Iran and I recently took a trip to Tbilisi. The recipes are authentic and the stories behind them are heartwarming. I do wish there were more pictures of the dishes though.

A REAL 'WOW'
This is a simply outstanding cookery book with recipes that beg to be tried in your own kitchen and ingredients that are reasonably accessible. More, the photography, recipe histories and helpful cooking suggestions are each superb. I highly recommend this book to you! Even if you've never eaten dishes from this magical part of the world, after looking at the recipes and the accompanying pictures, you'll be well and truly enticed.

Great book to learn about Persian culture and cuisine.
I'm Persian and an amateur cook. I love the fact that she covered the old persian empire as well as current Iran. I also liked the coverage of each region, produce and people she met along the way. Her personal observations and comments are priceless. I ordered the hard copy for my son who is a biracial and a very good fusion chef.

Nice travelog but not so great on the recipes.
Really interesting book to read but not so great on the recipes. Ended up returning it. I had read about it in the paper and seen a few recipes. I couldn't find the recipe I read in the paper in the book. it reads like a travelog and is beautifully illustrated. But, not really what I was looking for.

Beyond expectations
Beyond expectations for a “used” book, this cookbook, Taste of Persia, is autographed by the author, which made this gift even more special to my husband, this absolutely made his birthday.

Not just a cookbook
I wanted a cookbook for Turkish recipes and I got so much more. This is a beautifully presented travel log with recipes from the vast area with Turkey at its heart. Even if you never cook one of the excellent recipes I cannot recommend this book highly enough!

This is excellent and well worth the time.
Recipes are clear, easy to follow and wonderfully written. This would be a joy to read ,even if the recipes were awful, but they are not, the way it has all been presented is informative and enjoyable. Have tried the apricot soup, a revelation to the taste buds.
