I love reading this to my daughter
I am Chinese, living in England, and my daughter is of mixed heritage. It can be difficult to feel connected to my own culture here, but Mooncakes has certainly helped me share something of it with my daughter. She is still too young to really understand it, but she will grow into it: I intend to read this to her for many years to come.

Absolutely wonderful.
One of the loveliest books I've ever read. The story is short, tranquil, and cosy, spread out across pages of exquisite illustrations. It is told from the point of view of a little Chinese girl, enjoying a calm quiet Mid-Autumn Festival with her mother and father. There are three little short stories contained within the narrative, explaining the mythological history behind the festival. A very charming book overall, ideal for younger children, but it has something to offer all ages.

Our children enjoyed the warm story of a little girl learning about the moon festival.

Realistic and lovely! Our favorite Mid autumn festival book!
This story is beautifully written. This sweet family celebrates Mid Autumn Festival at home with mooncakes and tea at home in their backyard-nothing extravagant and exactly what we do at our house so our daughters really relate to this story. 3 folktales/legends are woven in as well. My children are a bit young to understand the concepts of “bad men” or “chopping a tree or dying” however I just change the words right now and eventually it will be appropriate for them to learn the accurate tales. This is a must have to celebrate mid autumn festival!!
