My betta loves them.
This was the first time I purchased these leaves for any of my bettas. My betta is an overall healthy fish so I did not purchase them to “heal” him but rather to give him a more natural home environment and see if he liked them. After they sank I moved them to his “cave” and he seems to LOVE them. He goes in to lay on them regularly so I am going to assume they are a hit.

my betta loved these
These helped my betta a ton and they don't mess with the water or the tank aesthetic a lot! They're really cheap and they look fine floating up at the top of the tank!

No desired effects + April 2024 Review
10/10/2023: I bought this product "100pc Catappa IAL Leaves" on September 18, 2023. Safe to say I've used this product (multiple leaves) over the course of a month for both my tanks. It does work as hides for my ghost shrimp and they love to graze on it, BUT- it does NOT have the desired effects! No tannins! I tried making a tannin extract with multiple leaves in a small glass container with BOILING water, as I've done before with larger leaves that came from Vietnam (home country). Wanna know the results? No tannins! The Vietnamese leaves were also catappa leaves, and they leaked tannins, tons of them! I boiled both types of leaves to rid of pests, but I am absolutely FLOORED with the SunGrow product! I love the tannin effect, this product has not been the greatest. Next time anyone I know goes to Vietnam, I'll be sure to ask them to take more catappa leaves instead of buying from here again.4/26/2024: hello again. I've had these ins forage for a while and decided to bring them out again, to try it again to see if time had affected the product(s). The first time I used these was the review above. It never leaked significant amounts of tannins, or any at all. My previous time was boiling (again), but I had incorporated boiling with a pot for several minutes with a large amount of water. It took a long time for the leaves to boil down and change color, but when it did, it looked like the color of the leaves from Vietnam. I added more water (not necessary) and waited more, the water had become tannic after a long time of waiting! After a while, I was able to pour it into my tank (carefully and after it cooled!!!!) and the tank had changed very nicely! This time, today, I'm just putting it into a small pot of water with some leaves. I can already smell the tea lol, and the leaves' color has changed drastically, though the water isn't stained yet. The method I'm using now is a DIY Blackwater extract, aka tannin extract. My goal is to achieve the same effects as the first successful time. lol I can already see the tannins coming out.Uh, what I wanted to say was, if it doesn't seem fresh enough or "work" for you, please consider making a backwater/tannin extract with these leaves. They will break down in the boiling water eventually, causing tannins to leak. You might have to wait a long time though. I'm already about 5-15minutes into boiling these "stale" ones I got the first time around.

He absolutely loves it!
My male betta rocket absolutely loves these he hides in them, plays in them and sleeps in them. He went up to check them out inspecting them and really enjoys them no more looking to see where rocket is because he goes where ever they float. I am happy, he's happy! Such a great product for bettas!

Seed Shrimp Explosion - BUYERS BEWARE!
I have ordered these twice now. The first time for my planted 10g Betta/Ghost Shrimp Tank. Everyone seemed extremely happy. Due to a curious cat during a water change, my shrimp all died (RIP), so then it was just by Betta and a few mystery snails. I continued to use the first pack of leaves I purchased w/o any incident. After a pond snail epidemic in my first 10g, I decided to break the tank down and move my Betta to a brand new tank, with no live plants, just him and some plastic/silk plants and his beloved hide. After a couple of weeks of regular water changes, I decided to purchase a new bag of these leaves, and added about 15 leaves to the tank. Water quality in the tank was fantastic, but IAL really help my Betta's tail stay looking nice and healthy.I would say within a few days, I suddenly noticed all these little dots on the leaves and surrounding the leaves that still hadn't sunk to the bottom of the tank. I thought nothing of it, they weren't moving, so I figured I'd just do a mid-weekly water change to rid the debris in the water. I woke the next morning to HUNDREDS of seed shrimp furiously swimming around my tank. After some research I found out that they are not harmful to the Betta, and generally the population will level off/crash eventually, but when I purchased these leaves, I was not looking for another life-form for my tank. HIGHLY disappointed, and I will not longer purchase from this brand in fear of ruining the 2 new tanks I'm purchasing to get my poor Betta out of the seed shrimp infested tank.BTW - There is NO WAY to rid your tank of seed shrimp once they appear. They lay eggs in the silicone of the aquarium and on any surface they are in contact with. Bleach doesn't kill them or their eggs and their eggs are microscopic, so you won't see them. Over $200 invested in my current tank (tank, filter, substrate, decorations, etc.) and now $150 more in rehousing my Betta, all because of some <$10 IAL.
