Q: Can I use this on road, pavement or trail for race marking?

Yes, this product can work well on wood, concrete, ceramic, marble and granite surfaces.

Q: are they durable (last "forever") when used outside?

Can't say they last forever, but it was very difficult to remove the backing in order to stick these on a surface.

Q: Will these stick to a raw wood fence outside?

It can be sticky, but it sticks firmly to a smooth surface

Q: Can you write on these with marker?

I wrote with a sharpie. It worked okay.
