Wow! Was super impressed with this curling iron!Years ago my friend told me she wouldn't go camping without this curling iron. I laughed. You're camping. Why do you need a curling iron? Well, now I have short hair that can't just be put in a pony tail and looks like I stuck my finger in a light socket when it's not properly tamed in the morning. Enter this perfect, inexpensive solution. I used it daily on my week long camping trip for a quick touch up. Presto! No bed head!It operates very simply. Unscrew the bottom of the curling iron, insert the uncapped butane cartridge, screw the bottom back on, push the "start" button down which engages the cartridge, then push in the "on" button. It's much like an encased lighter in a curling iron body. It heats up to a perfect temp within a minute or two. I used about 1/6th of a cartridge per use, about 10 minutes.Before ordering I was concerned about it setting my hair on fire but no worries. When you actually see the design and use it you'll see that it's really no more dangerous than a plug in curling iron.All in all, it's a good design for a decent price. The only improvement I think would be to make it a tad bigger. And it unfortunately doesn't come with a carrying bag or case for travel (which you would think it would).It works great and is perfect for times when I won't have a plug handy. So glad I bought it!

This curling iron is my new favorite curling iron, traveling, or not. It's cordless and uses butane to heat it. There's only one setting for the heat, and it gets just as hot as a corded curling iron. After inserting the butane, wait a few seconds, click the button to the ON position, and you can see a red light as you look down the barrel, which means its on. It heats up fast, within a few minutes, and cools down much quicker than other irons. Easy to use, store, and travel with. I always take it camping because it's quick to heat up and quick to cool down, and the 3/4" barrel makes curls last all day. However, while curling your hair, you might hear the quiet hissing of the butane, but it doesn't affect its curling ability. Doesn't come with butane cylinders, but the cylinders are relatively inexpensive, and last several months. I would highly recommend.Update: FYI, the spring clip part opens only about 3/4", as opposed to the 1-1/4" on a regular curling iron. So not as much hair can be curled at one time as with a regular curling iron. Would still highly recommend.

The only reason I bought this item was because my previous model, which I really liked very much, would only sporadically turn on - a problem with the igniter??? I hope this supposed newer model will not have the same problem. This is a great curling iron. I wear my hair short and it is wonderful for the styling I want.
