Rajasthani string puppetry, locally known as "Kathputli" is one of the most vibrant aspects of Rajasthani culture. The folk puppets of Rajasthan are handmade and crafted in Jaipur and Jodhpur, usually made of wood and cloth. The puppets are generally have a wooden head with nose and large eyes. The rest of the body is made of colorful and bright pieces of cloth and stuffed rages. Puppets have no legs but are covered with a long pleated skirt.The faces are usually painted yellow,white or any light color. The costumes are regional and traditional while local shows held in the state have themes that are performed revolve around Rajasthani historical tales or local legends.
