Heavy shelf…
The shelf is definitely heavy enough and nice looking after putting together. I would lay out the pieces in order before starting to assemble making sure to have the shelves and back cover facing the correct way. Covers for the screws would of been nice touch and would of made the shelve look a bit more rich in design..

Good for the price
For the price it's good. The shelf is easy enough to assemble by yourself. The shelves are secured enough with indents for the shelf peg thingies that hold the shelf up. It holds my figurines and books just fine. The backing is paper thin though and I ripped it by accident with very little force, like the thin cardboard clothing gift boxes. It's flimsy, and a piece, while not super essential, came off easily bc the screw heads were not big enough to keep the brackets in place because the holes in the brackets were smaller than the screw heads. I fixed that with a small piece of cardboard between the bracket and screw heads.I nailed an old picture frame to the back of it (same width) to help stabilize it and it helped a lot.I don't recommend that this shelf be put without support or a sturdy item behind it to secure it as it is meant to lean on one side.

Simple and functional
Good buy for a simple book case shelf, easy to assemble and stuff, no extra parts included, so don't lose them.

Great price, but issues with materials and instructions
At around $22, the price was right, but the instructions and materials leave something to be desired. The back is folded cardboard, something I've dealt with on other inexpensive bookcases, but in this case it was so thin that both creases were torn when I unfolded it, and one piece immediately broke off. I solved the problem by laying it out on the floor, held down with heavy objects, and used packing tape to tape it all together on the back piece - I should not have had to do that - the back should be made out of a better material. Next, when I got it all together and ready to stand up, I realized that the small piece that was supposed to go along the bottom had ended up on the top - I had paid close attention to the instructions and have built dozens of things like this over the years, and think the problem may be mislabeling of one or more pieces. (I dealt with this by removing the little piece, as I don't really care; I then used the little piece of wood under the front of the bookcase, to make it tilt back toward the wall, as my walls' baseboards interfere with my having the bookcase flush against the wall, and I couldn't use the little hook to fasten the bookcase to the wall anyway). Finally, the "shelving supports" (what I would call pins to hold the shelves) are absolute garbage - they're little plastic pieces. I'm about to replace those stupid pins, and also see if I can buy one or two additional shelves, either through Amazon or Home Depot, as I need more for the storage needs in my office. For the price, this is a pretty good deal, but I wrote this review to give you a clear picture of what to expect. For these reasons, I can't wholeheartedly recommend this bookcase to you.

The assembly was simple
The assembly was simple, it didn't take more than 15 minutes. The material is not super heavy, but it feels stable if you don't overload it. Visually it is simple, combines easily with other furniture and does not take up much space.

Off-Gassing Is Terrible - Should Not Be Listed As Returnable Since You Would Have To Tear It Apart
My wife and I thought this would be a good shelf for in our bathroom to replace and old decrepit wicker one. I have assembled this type of product before, and this took about the usual time as others to complete. One thing we immediately noticed, as other reviewers have mentioned, was when you try to remove the labels on the side walls, it pulls the faux wood like paper covering off. We simply left the second label on it.The shelf looked nice in our bathroom but within hours we both began noticing a very disagreeable smell. Thinking this would dissipate within a day or two, we put up with it. After two days, neither of us could stand it any longer and talked about sitting it in our garage for a week or so to see if the outgassing would stop. After 10 days in the garage, we brought it back into the house only to remove it once again within a few hours. The smell was not confined to the bathroom either. I have a home office across the hallway and a bit diagonal to the bathroom door and I generally have my door closed. The smell permeated thru the heat vents or just general air flow, and it was almost as bad in my office as it was being in the bathroom which is about 15-20 feet away.We have now taken the shelf back out to the garage and are going to try to use it in our basement unless it outgasses from there too much and permeates the entire house. If we cannot use it in the basement, we will try to rearrange our garage and use it there. I read that it was returnable within 30 days but that is not an option considering you would have to disassemble it with all the screws and pull all the nails from the back boards which makes returning simply not an option. As I mentioned earlier, I have assembled this type of shelf unit, much larger in size, multiple times and have never experienced the strong odor this unit gives off. I really wish I could have rated this better as the shelf did look nice in our bathroom, but it is simply not something I would recommend anyone else purchasing.
