Q: Would someone please explain how this works? i understand a converter is used so i can use other bottled inks. how do i use it?

Put the converter inside the pen (just like a cartridge), put your pen's nib inside the bottled ink, and then screw the converter's screw mechanism at the back, It'll vacuum the ink into the converter just like a syringe. Tip: for a better fill, screw and unscrew a couple of times so no air is left while filling.

Q: Will it fit in a pilot Kakuno?

Yes. The con-50 and con-70 also fit. The con-40 replaces the older con-50

Q: Will this fit pilot mr animal collection?

This converter fits all modern Pilot pens, except a few sold in parts of Europe which are altered to take International style cartridges. I'm not sure if those can take a Pilot converter.

Q: Does it work with any pilot fountain pen?

No, this does not work with all Pilot fountain pens. I'm not sure how familiar you are with fountain pens, but some fountain pens, like the Pilot Custom 823 have built in ink receptacles that are vacuum or piston fillable. So you couldn't use this converter with those. But you can use this converter in any Pilot pen that uses ink cartridges.
