Race to assemble a weapon so powerful it can knock out your opponents in a single blow. One Hit Kill is easy to learn and fast-moving, drawing from traditional card games like gin and poker, along with European-style games like Catan and Ticket to Ride. With its simple rules and surprisingly complex strategy, One Hit Kill might become your new favorite game. Created by screenwriter John August, the game includes original art by Noah Bradley, Simon Estrada and other top fantasy artists. This Expanded Edition includes the Core Deck plus the Death & Lore expansion, allowing up to 6 players. Each game takes 10 to 15 minutes.

Good little game to have on the shelf
Not four stars because it didn't knock my socks off, BUT it was a big hit during my last game night (we had 2 "seasoned" gamers and 2 players who are only familiar with games like monopoly and scrabble). There's just enough "meat" on it that the gamers weren't bored, but could also be explained in less than 2 minutes. As others have said, it's "nerdy gin rummy" (set building + inside jokes from worlds of fantasy and science fiction) and there's definitely a place for it on my shelf.

Fast, interesting game play
Easy to learn, fast game, we usually play around 10 rounds in a go with my husband. My 7 year old, usually a game lover is not as impressed with this, as with our other games we play. Nice artwork, and funny ideas for the weapons.

Fun. Instructions could use some enhancement.
Fun game. The instructions aren't completely clear for when to use the expansion deck. Definitely would want to use the expansion with more than 3 people, maybe even when more than 2.

Simple and Versatile
I was part of the Kickstarter for this so I've had my set a while. As with most games I'm more comfortable with them when I see them in practice by someone first or when I do a sort of dry-run for the first game. For this particular game, it helped that the manufacturers had a video in which they played the game, but honestly, it was a rare instance where it wasn't totally necessary. The "one action" mechanics makes it easy to follow; if you can only do one action on your turn then that moves things along briskly.Thing thing that makes for good replay, particularly on card games, is being able to develop strategies. I found a few strategies, particularly with use of the cards for pulling a card from the unused deck and from the discarded deck, and ways of identifying when someone has too many cards in their hand or when when the perfect time is them to make them discard 2 cards. So why the 4 stars instead of 5, you ask. Just a couple of very minor things. First, if you're playing a card in order to go and retrieve a card from either the discarded deck or the draw deck, you end up with a sort of balancing act; you either need to be VERY good at remembering all the potential cards you could use, or you need to be able to see your hand (without exposing them to the other players) while you fish through the deck, because if the one card you're looking for isn't there then you need to pick a next best thing, and if--like me-- your memory is a sieve, then you need to keep checking your hand. Also, I spend a lot of time checking my down-turned Weapon cards (for the same reason). I almost felt compelled to make card stands so that players can stand up their own cards facing themselves and away from the other players. So the bottom line is it's fun to play, even if you have to do a little bit of a card balancing act at times. There's nothing more fun/aggravating than having a weapon completed, and having to wait until the next round to actually implement your weapon and having someone force you to discard cards. It's awesome when you catch someone else that close and terrible when it happens to you.

Excellent
One Hit Kill is the best card game we've played in years. We have the expanded set, with extra cards, so up to 6 can play.OHK is similar to Gin, with a hint of Go Fish, and loads of humor and surprise outcomes. The rules are well designed, the artwork is high-quality, and it's great fun for almost any age, though some of the (very loosely defined) 'Weapons' might be inappropriate for children under 10.
