About Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) is produced naturally in the human body but in very small amounts which is often not sufficient to perform many of its functions. Alpha Lipoic Acid is a powerful antioxidant that neutralizes harmful free radicals, and a multifunctional nutrient which is a key component in the body’s metabolic process. Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) is a unique antioxidant because it can function in both water and fat environments. Unlike other antioxidants, such as vitamins C and E that are either water or fat soluble, ALA is able to enter all cells and tissues and function in almost every part of the body. This special property enables Alpha Lipoic Acid to be easily absorbed and transported into most organs and systems, such as the liver, nerves, eyes, and the brain. Alpha Lipoic Acid can also help increase the positive effects of other essential antioxidants such as CoQ10 and glutathione and recycle vitamins C and E, enhancing their antioxidant capacity. Alpha Lipoic Acid also works together with B-vitamins to promote energy production by converting carbohydrates, fats and proteins into energy for the body’s future use. One study showed Alpha Lipoic Acid promoted healthy glucose metabolism in lean and overweight adults. Two independent double-blind randomized clinical studies found Alpha Lipoic Acid supported nerve health in participants.* Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) Benefits Promotes energy production in muscles Enhances effectiveness of other antioxidants Helps maintain healthy glucose metabolism Supports the nervous system Provides support for healthy liver function Potent antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals Bioavailable clinically researched dose

Superb product
I have ordered this brand of Alpha Lipoic acid several times in the past. High-quality and high potency are the key words to describe it. Whatever it does, I feel better when I take it!

Good Dosage, Goes Down Easily
ALA has a lot of research behind it (much of it done in Europe), so I was excited to be able to order it. I find this brand to be OK in taste (not too large a capsule either), and to be just the right dosage. From what I have read, 600 mg is the dosage actually used in many studies (some went as high as 1800). There is some evidence that ALA helps with a few of the symptoms of Diabetes, such as neuropathy of the eyes and legs/feet. So far I've not seen much effect on blood sugars, but these things take some time. These are capsules rather than pills, and they are not too large, so they are easy to swallow. I've used ALA before, and these capsules are easier to handle. The science is still ongoing, but there is enough there that I think I'm going to give this at least a six month try. If I like these, I may just order them when they run out; there a lot of purchase options on Amazon (some cheaper, some more expensive), but if I find a product that works, I tend to stay with the brand unless they get totally unreasonable in price. The only thing I would prefer is that their bottle described inert ingredients. I presume there are some in there, but the label on the product page is exactly like the one on the bottle. I don't worry much about these things, but I know some vegans would want to know there are no animal products used. Their corporate parent, Nugema Research, says that they have "No Artificial Ingredients" and are "Naturally Sourced". I guess that will have to do!Summary: Do your research into supplements. If you think ALA is for you, these capsules are reasonably priced and easy to take. Highly recommended. Please note that I received these free of charge, so I could review them.
