Won't turn off on Seattle Gray days
The two problems with these tend to be that they reflect internal light and turn themselves off (common if you have frosted glass in your fixture) or they turn on and never turn off even in the daytime. Mine do work in the Summer when there is no cloud cover and morning sun hits the unit directly, but not so well for the other 9 months of the year (near Seattle). If you do wish to try them, buy them during the darkest part of your year so you can return them quickly if they don't ever turn off.

Don't waste your money they turn the light on but don't turn it off. I bought two of them and i have to turn the switch off every day and turn back on or it will stay on all day. I bought one in the past and thought i would try them again and they just don't turn the light off during the day.

Very erratic at best. It is NOT sensitive enough it remains ON with a small cloudy situation and stayed ON even when the Sun peeked on it! They may even have some quality control issue since the size of soldering is different on all 4 units I , unfortunately, bought ! I would not recommend for anyone to buy these erratic sensors.

Test your luck - some work and some don't.
Wow. Is it so difficult to find a light sensor bulb base that works consistently these days? I have gone thru many different brands and models over the years and this one also disappoints - one works OK and one DOA. Now I gotta look around for yet another one hoping it works. I wonder if light sensors are more difficult to make than space shuttles that explore the universe.

Mind of their own
They stay on some times even when sunny.. with no sensor tube installed so they are getting plenty of light. Theres no rhyme or reason to their on n off

Don't buy. Won't shut off.
I hate it. I bought it because I leave for 4 months at a time. Neither of the two will shut off in full sunlight. The sensor is too weak to be useful. The only way it shuts off is when I shine an LED flashlight into the sensor. Don't buy.

Like pretty much everyone else
Like pretty much everyone else, I have the EXACT same problems -- why oh why didn't i read the reviews before buying!! As EVERYONE else is pointing out, the sensor is too close to where it gets screwed into the fixture. You screw it in tightly and it ends up getting covered. So then you unscrew it a bit so the sensor is fully exposed and then there's not enough contact between bulb and fixture so then it doesn't work. Also, it goes on at night but then doesn't go off in morning, or even broad daylight. UGH TERRIBLE.

Not what was pictured
What was sent was not what is pictured. Instead of the photocell being prominently positioned on the side, it's close to the screw base and as a result, my lights stayed on much longer than I wanted - even after 10 am if there wasn't direct sunlight. I replaced with others from Lowes where I could see the photocell was positioned as this photo indicates.
