Game changer but remote could be better.
Install was very simple and straight forward. It took my father in law and me about 1.5hrs and that includes beer breaks since the attic was about 130°. It’s very efficient at cooling the house. Just need to learn which windows need to be open to efficiently cool it. We have a 2200ft2 single story and if it’s 10° cooler outside it drops the inside temp within 30-45min by 5-7°.My only complaint is the remote. On would think after spending $1500 on a system the remote would be a sturdy well built responsive remote. This remote works but it is not responsive at all. No backlighting on the buttons and the backlighting on the lcd doesn’t stay on nearly long enough. It also has a pet in it that rattles when I shake the remote. It didn’t have the battery pull tab in it as the instructions said it would but it works. It gets the job done and my only dock on this system is the remote. Feels like one fall to the tile floor and it’ll shatter like glass.

Fairly good unit for what it is, but.....
Install wasn't too bad. Unit worked well. However I have had it for maybe 8 months now, went to turn it on after not using it for 3 months or so and my remote is dead? No guides, faq's or other info available at all. Makes me skeptical about the longevity of the unit now....

Fantastic fan
For many years, I mostly cooled my home by using window fans on exhaust mode in windows of a room on my upper floor. The downsides of this were that all heat from the home got drawn into that room, it would take all night to cool the house down and they were unattractive and loud.I decided on the 6500 model even though the slightly cheaper 5500 model was rated as sufficient for my home. I figured for the extra expense and work required, better to go with the more powerful model. The installation was straightforward, but a little complicated not because of the product, but the complexity of my attic. Thankfully the remote control and the fact that I just had to plug it into an outlet helped to not add additional complexity and it only took me four hours start to finish. The fan is a bit loud upstairs on high speed, however it is able to cool the house down so quickly in the evening, while we are still downstairs (where the sound is imperceptible) that I'll turn it to low speed long before retiring upstairs.Even on low speed, the breeze from every open window in the house, even those very far from the vent us quite impressive and I'm very happy to have gotten this fan installed before the very hot summer to come.I suspect our air conditioner will see far less action this summer seeing as how l quickly and effectively this fan has been able to cool our home.

I am very happy with the fan so far.
It has only been a week since I installed the fan and it works as expected. It replaced an old fan that was much more powerful but much louder. Installation was as expected with only two minor issues. The first issue was that they collapsible tubing is directional so it is supposed to be installed in a specific way. There is a label on the tube letting the installer know the correct direction, but there is no mention of this in the directions that I read. The second issue was regarding the remote control sensor. The directions did not provide any information as to where the sensor should be installed. I installed it in the attic and it works fine, so I hope it is not overly heat sensitive or it will not last up there. Otherwise, the fan is precisely as advertised and currently is working very well.

Remote failed to link a month after istallation
System works well when it works. Problems are the following:1. Batteries last only about two weeks, then must be replaced, so keep plenty of spares.2. Remote doesn’t always link to system, so we have to sometimes go weeks, during hottest part of summer without whole house fan.I would recommend finding a unit that doesn’t use remote, and directly wires into a stationary switch, unless you love hanging out in a hot attic trouble shooting. However, they will gladly sell you a new one for $134.00. remote comes with a large label containing a phone number and url for troubleshooting. Any product that has to display customer support info on remote in large letters, is an indication, to me, of past problems.

Pulls alot of air
The unit pulls alot of air but the remote failed to work consistently. I could not shut off the fan and when it did I could not turn it back on. I called customer support on the remote and they will be sending me a new remote and receiver. The bad part is my installer will have to be paid to come back or I could do it myself.

Not sure I love it…especially for the high cost.:(
I read tons of reviews of how much people love their whole house fans and have contemplated it for a few years because the cost was kind of high. I finally but the bullet this year and purchased one plenty large for my house. I got it installed this week and, granted, it’s only been a few days but I’m not overly impressed. I can feel the air flow in the hallway that it’s installed in but that end of my house is typically considerably cooler than the rest of my house and now it seems like some of the ultra hot air from my attic is coming into the once cool end of my house. I’m a little disappointed having spent $1,200 and not really seeing much of a difference.
