It really outlined the whys of bootcamp and the different phases and each ones goals. It included enough of the actual drills and training but not overwhelming. The importance of building specific character traits would be of value to anyone. Working as a team, troubleshooting, problem sovling together etc. Bought several copies. No regrets. Excellent used ones are available for less.

The average Marine recruit never understands why all the screaming, yelling, hostility, and abuse. The author and former Drill Instructor explains the rationale, which makes sense. The training program turns squishy soft civilians into basically trained Marines in 13 short weeks. That something short of a miracle.

Very informative. Got 2....one for me and one for my son (the one entering the marines). He didn't say much about it, but I noted afyer he left for basic that the book appeared "much loved."

bought for my great niece, 13 yrs. old in ROTC and thinking her future is in the Marines. Wanted her to have all the right info to make the right decision, it's a great book.

I read this book for insight into what Marines are taught. It delivered on its mission and was well written. Highly recommended.

I'm a Vietnam Vet (1965-1966)...I ordered a copy for my Granddaughter's boyfriend who is joining the Marine Corps...I enjoyed skimming it so much that I ordered another copy for myself.

Great book for future Marine. Trying to give my son as much information on boot camp before he goes. This book is very helpful and will hopefully motivate him to study the things other than PT. He says that it has good information. I'll know if it helped after he does basic!
