Jewelry Box Lid Support

I recently purchased an old mahogany humidor box at an antique store and refinished it to be used as a jewelry box.It was missing the lid support, I searched around town to find a replacement but could not find one. I measured the groove at the inside edge of the box and figured it had had a sliding support. After searching on the Internet and not finding what I wanted I went to my old standby Amazon and started searching there. Within a few minutes I came across this brass support and after checking the measurements I ordered it...and it fit perfectly...unbelievable! Once again, thank you Amazon.

Went thru a period of building cigar humis. wanted to try something different beyond the L shaped stop hinges. This worked out really nice and was easy to machine in. A lot more installer friendly. Clean, flush finish. follow the layout instructions and make sure the depth setting is good (if you're considering this type of hardware, your probably the type I don't need to give those instructions to...but what the heck).

On medium to large size wood boxes, this lid support looks great and works in supporting the box lid and keeping it from opening too far. Very nice. But not the easiest thing in the world to install. This was the first unit I installed. I wouldn't hesitate in using this lid support for another project. Follow the directions that came with unit and layout carefully, and things will work in the end.
