Looks great, fun to use!
Quick & easy to use, to clean, and to store. Fun design, fun to use. Minimalist. Works in power outages ;-)I use mine to make organic walnut butter. It takes about a minute, is absolutely fresh, is about half the cost of buying ready-made, and eliminates packaging (normally glass jar + lid). Ingredients: organic walnuts. That's it. 3 pulls yields chopped nuts, but for my purposes I give it 30 pulls to yield a nice fine texture about like brown sugar. I store my "walnut dust" in a reusable container in the fridge. At breakfast, I drizzle olive oil on toast, then put a spoonful of my walnut dust on the bread and spread it around with the back of the spoon. Tastes great as is, or top it with cinnamon. At first I assumed I'd add some oil to make the consistency more like peanut butter (which you can do by adding an oil of your choice), but I prefer the mealy dust consistency for simplicity's sake: faster to make, no mess to clean up, easier to store, zero waste.New topic: I routinely make one dish skillet meals using half a dozen or so different veggies, and I initially bought this hoping to speed up veggie prep, but I wasn't thrilled with the results for that purpose. Within the first few pulls, you end up with partly pureed mush and partly unchopped pieces. If you keep pulling to make the big pieces smaller, you end up with ever more mush...more like a smoothie. Cooked veggie smoothie anyone? Exactly. So I'd recommend using this for things you want to puree...salad dressings, marinades, sauces, dessert toppings, guacamole...and of course it's great for chopping nuts. For veggies though, I went back to using a knife. (Feb. 2019 update: for veggies & hard fruits like apples, I've been using, and recommend, Presto 02970 Professional SaladShooter Electric Slicer/Shredder. I use it every day.)Would definitely buy again. Has paid for itself many times over.(2019 Feb. update: I've been using the Zyliss for over two years now and it's still going strong!)[2023 Nov. update: it's *still* working fine! Mostly using to chop frozen walnuts, which are not easy on it; although I'm careful not to overload it...just doing a medium handful at a time. Also for processing cilantro and/or parsley with nuts & oil etc for quick/easy pesto type condiments.]

There are cheaper ones, but this one is the best
Great product. Strong and compact. Slices perfectly with just a few pulls of the wire, vegetables, fruits, nuts of all kinds. You name it. Easy to clean and maintain. We bought the first slicer over 5 years ago and it still works like new.The current purchase is for a gift.

Amazing chopper with razor sharp blades
This is an incredible manual food chopper, well worth five stars with a couple of common sense caveats. The blades are razor sharpe. Don't get your fingers anywhere near them when removing or washing. And if, like me, you could see no way to remove the guard and the instructions made no sense, play safe and find a utube video.Secondly, some reviewers have complained about water getting inside the lid. Of course it does! Use your eyes, people. There's a hole in the lid for the pull string. Don't put the lid in the dishwasher or immerse it in water. Cover the hole with your thumb when you rinse it under the tap, or wipe carefully around it.This cutter has saved me hours of time. I've already gifted it to several people, explaining rhe caveats, and they too are thrilled. Buy it, mind the blades and the hole, and enjoy!

Works well. Effective.
Have purchased a number of different ones with differing mechanisms to engage chopping. Very effective/efficient compared to all others. Have to chop/ground all foods for all meals every day. Use it a few times a day. My only criticism is that water gets into the hole out of which the pull string comes and eventually rots it. It breaks. We go through about 3 a year, but it gets a beating, the little thing. I continue to purchase it, and wish you could just order the lid with the handle and string. Blades and container are very hardy.

Great product with acceptable cons
I've used this product a few times so far and like it very much. I enjoy cooking curry which requires finely chop onions, etc. Unlike electric ones, this manual device allows me to control how much I want to process food. It has a pretty good capacity although you don't want to pack too much in there. It would be difficult to pull the handle to start chopping. It is powerful and does a great job of chopping.Yes, you should not run water over the top portion or immerse it in water. I think that could ruin the mechanical part. You just need to be careful not to get water in where the rope moves in and out. It's not a big deal. It would be very difficult to make the area water-tight if even possible.I think one of the brilliant features of this product is the eight slight "ridges" inside the bottom container. I thought it was somewhat annoying when I was handwashing the container. But they were designed that way so that food is evenly chopped. Without them, large ones stick to the inside of the container due to centrifugal force. But the "ridges" throw large ones into the center so that they get chopped finer. The end result is evenly finely chopped food. The "ridges" are a little bit annoying when getting the food out or when hand-washing. But, if you are interested in chopping food in equal fitness, this product is for you.It also comes with a 5-year warranty. I highly recommend it.

Buy it-I love mine!
Excellent product. They all seem to look alike but they’re not! Blades are very sharp and it takes seconds to do the job and super easy to take apart-even with my arthritic hands.
