I very rarely feel compelled to write reviews but thought this might help someone.I've had a honeywell electronic air cleaner for 10 years + now. The prefilters, after a couple of washes, start to "go bad". By go bad, I mean the metal filament would get looser in the frame, or maybe the frame would kink or something like that and after a few years I would have to replace them.In my unit, they tend to take more punishment than average. I have 2 stage and on the occasion that it runs on HI/2nd stage, the static pressure runs at upper limits of normal. Due to that, over time, the filter media will start to "suck" closer and closer into the electrically charged filters.In all the filters I had before, including the originals, the metal filter media was just held crimped into the frame. Works great for a while but then eventually it starts making contact and you will see black marks on the media. Even when they are brand new, you can see the media "bulge" out when the fan is on HI. I can actually see this happening with the old filters with the air filter cover off. In the middle where the support is weakest, the cheaper filters I've bought bulges out on HI fan/2nd stage.These filters don't even think about doing that. Full blast, they stay vertical and flat. That's probably because there is a wire "grid" that covers and sandwiches the metal filter media and holds it in place.The few comments I read that they are poor quality befuddle me because these are MUCH better than all the typical/similar prefilters you'll find out there. I've got a stack of older filters I just never got around to throwing out and compare them to this brand and these are much better made.If you are looking high quality replacements for a reasonable price, this are it - period.My only suggestion is the product photos seems a bit misleading for the 20X12.5.... the pictures make the filters look longer and skinnier than they are (i.e. the "aspect ratio" is wrong). What I got was exactly the right size but the picture made me second guess it a few times.

These air filters slide perfectly in a Honeywell F50F Electronic Air Filter (See the attached picture). The filter frame slides perfectly into the 0.4" wide slot on either side of the F50F allowing it to be a post or pre-filter. The frame was strong enough to slide even with a bit of resistance due to the tape overlap used to seal the F50F to the air ducts and not bend or break. A pair of filters is needed to fit across the entire F50F and these are provided as a pair.The F50F only has about a 0.4" slot width for the filter to slide into, and as most media filters are 1" thick, there are no options save for the ridiculously expense Honeywell filters. This Air Filter Factory filter is the most inexpensive choice at $40 for 2 filters. A Honeywell media post filter for the F50F or the F300 Electronic Air Filters will cost close to a ridiculous $180.These are meant to collect only the largest dust particles due to the large spaces you can see especially when holding up to the light (see picture with a 100W light bulb behind it) as these filters are meant to be used as pre-filters and stop the big stuff from getting through.However, in my system, the filters were installed on the post side. We installed them there to inspect after a few weeks to see how well the F50F electronic filter is working, hoping to see little if any dust collected by these post filters..

Good quality

The product was received in brand-new condition, well packaged. The aluminum frame was tough and I would have been really happy if it fits. The track of my HVAC is 20 inch in length/height, it should have been perfect but there was a screw in the track that prevented the filter from sliding through. I did not want to force and scratch the filter frame, so I will just return. Only after I put the old one next to the new one that I noticed there's a 0.4 inch difference in length.

Exact fit and quality

I had a hard time finding the Honeywell filters! I was so glad I found them back in 2021. I like these filters because you can wash them several times before they wear out and need replacing. I usually replace them every several years. It's almost time, though I may use them another year or two. One must be very careful when washing them because they can easily pop out of the frame, and it's almost impossible to put them back in. So, yes I highly recommend them for those who want a more permanent solution to your filter woes!
