Invaluable

I ADORE this sturdy little manual. I can't get enough of it! It is concisely packed with scholarly information. After hours and hours of study as an Interior Design and Art History major, I love being able to sit down with a concise compendium of easy to reference, erudite information on architectural types and styles, from vaults to pilasters. It is not overly verbose (as are most texts on the subject), which works for my learning style.Information is separated into quick sections with small reproductions of period etchings, which are viewable in such fine detail that you may even occasionally want to whip out your pocket magnifying glass. I mean, it's all here. Do yourself a favor and buy this book, carry it with you, and ENJOY the heck out of it! Do I sound happy? OH YEAH!! Great purchase! More please.

Excellent primer but I have one small complaint.

On the one hand, the fact that it is small in dimensions makes it easy to carry around, but the illustrations are occasionally hard to see detail in due to their size and low contrast. As someone who never studied architecture but is FASCINATED by buildings everywhere I go, I have learned SO MUCH from this book. Living in NYC, there are many architectural styles to see. I will be walking around a lot with this book in hand.

Great reference for artists

This book has a lot of information useful for artists and architectural fanatics. It is a strictly informational book, if you do not find the information interesting, you will be bored.I wholly recommend it, but it will not interest people looking for stories.

Perfect

This tiny book was perfect for our trip with teens to Europe. Get the most out of what you are seeing.Helpful reference book, not much bigger than my phone.

Perfect reference

I bought this to have a quick reference for architectural terms and styles and it is perfect. Well organized. A bit hard to read due to size but a very handy book.
